Tailors are more skilled,knowledgeable and know to sew far better than FASHION designer.

The job of a fashion designer is to sketch out original designs,draft and patterns

While the tailors will bring the design to life.

Mostly, Tailors recreate designs that has been sketched out before

But FASHION designer; they sit down, think and sketch out designs that the client want; some designs take hour,day even month to create mind blowing designs

Fashion designers and Tailors know how to style to but their creativity mind differ

THINGS YOU SHOULD NEVER DO AS TAILOR

1.Never use your money to start a job:
Customers can be very funny sometimes, after collecting the outfit, to pay become hard to do.
Note that : you can only do it if its your high paying clients, someone that you know that she/he is going to pay no matter what .
It's a risk so choose wisely .

2. Agree on the price: Make sure that you guys are on the same page when concluding payment. To avoid stories that touches the heart.

3. Collect at least 70% percent: This is one cannot be over emphasised because people will test you. Collecting 70% before hand helps you in doing the job and also helps the client in paying the remaining 30%

4 Calculate before charging: As a tailor, you must be aware of how much fabrics are in the market before charging your client.
Calculate whatever you are buying and see if it will pays you. Because if you dont do that, it will be on your head and it can lead to loss

Being a Fashion designer or tailor is not about designing a dress but also have eyes for details. It is very important, as a fashion designer, the way you will see a certain fabric to produce a certain result will be different with the eyes of customers.

Follow me.

As a designer, you should able to tell which fabric will be the best for a certain design. Fabric are not made for the same purpose.

For example,styling body hug dress with crepe will not give it aura. But with merch Fabric, you will see the difference.

If I want to sew pant trousers, I will always go with Crepe because of its durability, texture.
Merch is a very light Fabric, dealing with it will cost you a lot of patience. Even when trying to cut, you can be frustrated 😩😩.

But with crepe you are good to go.

That why when you need to check fabrics well before buying.
It's for own good 😉
