When trying to make structural designs a reality, structural engineers need to consider several aspects. Stability would be one of the most significant factors. When ensuring that structures are secure and long-lasting, without collapsing or structural failure, in this case; "stability is important".

Two main structural components are beams and columns that play an important role in bearing the weight of the building and providing a stable load path from the slab to the foundations of the structure.

Horizontal structural components that bear loads perpendicular to their longitudinal direction are typically beams. In gymnastics, think of a balance beam. It's a 15-foot long rectangular object that is supported at both ends.

CONSTRUCTION QUALITY MANAGEMENT

One of the pillars of the project delivery process is the management of the quality of the product or service a construction company provides. The project specifications generally spell out the quality standards for the project and by reference become a part of the contract between the project owner and the contractor.

The term quality involves in construction quality management are divided in 4 major points:-

1. Quality planning,
2. Quality assurance,
3. Quality control
4. Quality improvement.

Quality management is focused not only on product and service quality, but also on the means to achieve it.

The Quality of the construction materials must be solid and not inferior, to avoid structural failure.

STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY FAILURE

Structural integrity and failure is an aspect of engineering which deals with the ability of a structure to support a designed load (weight, force, etc...) without breaking, tearing apart, or collapsing, and includes the study of breakage that has previously occurred in order to prevent failures in future designs.

Structural integrity is the term used for the performance characteristic applied to a component, a single structure, or a structure consisting of different components. Structural integrity is the ability of an item to hold together under a load, including its own weight, resisting breakage or bending. It assures that the construction will perform its designed function, during reasonable use, for as long as the designed life of the structure. Items are constructed with structural integrity to ensure that catastrophic failure does not occur, which can result in injuries, severe damage, death, and/or monetary losses.

Structural failure refers to the loss of structural integrity, which is the loss of the load-carrying capacity of a component or member within a structure, or of the structure itself. Structural failure is initiated when the material is stressed beyond its strength limit, thus causing fracture or excessive deformations. In a well-designed system, a localized failure should not cause immediate or even progressive collapse of the entire structure. Ultimate failure strength is one of the limit states that must be accounted for in structural engineering and structural design. etc..

PRACTICAL CONCRETE BLOCK MAKING

The rapid advance in the use of concrete blocks for building has tempted many to go in the business of manufacturing blocks for a living, and unfortunately many have entered the field who are ignorant of how a block should be made, and in consequence they turn out bad blocks which soon crumble.
If the blame for such poor work was put on a BUILDING, who is at fault? we would have nothing to say, but the verdict is usually against concrete blocks, thus making them unpopular.
