Curtain Cleaning Methods........ 4

👉Key steps:

✔Regular maintenance: make vacuuming your curtains part of your normal cleaning routine. Use the soft brush attachment to remove everyday dust and dirt.

✔Lightweight curtains: can be cleaned in the washing machine.

✔Curtains made of delicate materials: should be hand washed to reduce the risk of shrinking.

✔Curtains made from heavy fabric: can be steam cleaned, in order to avoid a lengthy drying process.

👉After Curtain Cleaning, What is the Best Way to Dry Them?

✔Don’t be tempted to put wet curtains into the dryer. The tumbling motion can cause stubborn creases to appear that not even a hot iron can remove.

✔The best way to dry curtains is to hang them outside, away from direct sunlight to avoid bleaching, and in a breezy place if possible.

✔Letting curtains dry naturally in a hanging position allows the creases to fall out, and a quick iron afterwards will have them looking like new.

👉Option 3: Steam Cleaning Curtains

Using a good quality steam cleaner with an upholstery attachment is one of the most convenient methods of curtain cleaning.

Be sure to start from the top and work your way down the curtain.

If you notice that the material is becoming wet, hold the appliance further away from the curtain.

Be careful when using a steam cleaner: always read the manufacturer’s instructions before you begin, and remember that steam can burn you – so ensure you wear appropriate protective clothing.

⏊When exactly do you need to use a steam cleaner for curtain cleaning?

Steam cleaning curtains is an excellent choice for curtains made from very heavy materials or for curtains that are particularly difficult to take down from the rail.

Curtain Cleaning Method.......2

👉Option 2: Hand Wash Curtains

Hand washing curtains can sometimes be the safer option:

Either use your regular laundry detergent, or a soap specifically designed for hand washing delicates. It’s best to choose a gentle soap to avoid damage to the material.

Follow the instructions on your chosen product to hand wash – different products will require different concentrations.

⏊When to hand wash curtains:

Hand washing curtains is a bigger chore than simply putting them in the washing machine, but it does reduce the risk of shrinking, and it’s a good choice for delicate materials such as 100 percent cotton.

✴✴It’s best not to hand wash very heavy materials simply because it’s difficult to remove all the water, prolonging the drying time.

Curtain Cleaning Methods........ 1

✴✴✴ Curtains tend to absorb smells from around the home, such as cooking aromas and cigarette smoke, which can leave the curtains smelling less than fresh and cause slight discolouration. These stains may be very noticeable on light-coloured or delicate curtains.

Curtain cleaning doesn’t have to be difficult, though: while steam cleaning your curtains means using special products, there are several other easy ways to clean your curtains, and different curtain cleaners you can use. Here’s a quick, simple guide to the options available.

👉👉 Method 1: Cleaning Curtains in the Washing Machine

Depending on the material of your curtains, you may be able to clean them simply by putting them in the washing machine:

✅If your washing machine has a delicate cycle, be sure to use it; otherwise, choose a cool wash with a slow spin.

✅Your normal laundry detergent will be fine to use.

✅If you are particularly worried about the material shrinking, don’t risk putting the curtains in the washing machine, and hand wash instead.

✅When to clean curtains in the washing machine: This option works best with lightweight curtains rather than with heavy materials that will retain water.

⏩However, keep in mind that some materials need special attention when being put in a washing machine – for instance, delicate cottons can shrink in hot washes.

✴✴Be sure to check the label on your curtains before laundering them.

Removing Blood Stains on Your Clothing!!!

👉Please note that these tips are designed to get rid of a blood stain on common fabrics such as cotton and polyester. For other, more delicate fabrics, such as silk, please refer to the label on inside of the clothing, as professional cleaning may be required. Always test a stain removal strategy on a small, inconspicuous area of the fabric first.

✴How to Get Blood Out of Clothes✴

The sooner you can start to treat a blood stain, the more successful the outcome will be.

⏊Wet the blood stain thoroughly with cold water to make sure that the stain does not dry and become more difficult to deal with.

⏩Larger stains will need to be submerged in a bowl or sink, while smaller ones can just have water applied directly to them – you can hold the stain under a stream of cold water from the tap.

⏊Make sure not to use hot or warm water, as this will only make the stain worse. (If you've had a mishap on the move - such as at certain times of the month - use a damp cloth instead, and blot carefully.)

⏩Apply soap to the stain – hand soap or a bar of soap is fine, or you also could use washing liquid.

⏊Gently work the soap into the stain. Then, rinse the soap away in cold water, and reapply more soap if necessary and repeat the process.

⏊You should be able to see a difference immediately, particularly if the stain is fresh.

⏊Once the stain has faded, the garment can be washed regularly. You may want to add a stain removal product to the stain before laundering; be sure to read the directions on the label.

⏩Remember to avoid applying heat to a blood stain – whether this is hot water, or heat from a tumble dryer or an iron. Because blood stains are protein-based, heat will set the stain, making it impossible to remove.

De-Cluttering Your Wardrope...... 2

👉Wash, iron and fold the clothes that you are keeping and either store them in storage containers, bags or if your wardrobe is large enough, put them back.

👉Sort your clothes by trousers (long and short), jackets, shirts, dresses, skirts and find a dedicated space for them in your wardrobe. Group long- and short-sleeve T-shirts, jumpers, skirts, dresses.

👉Take your organisation a step further by labelling your storage boxes or shelves in your wardrobe. For smaller items, use wardrobe organisation systems.

✳This will make it easier for you to re-organise your wardrobe for the next season.

✴✴You can additionally sort each category by colour. This not only looks great, but gives you an instant overview of the colours you have, if you are looking for a special coloured top to combine with your trousers for example.

👉Display your favourite jewellery on hooks or pin boards and make them a feature in your bedroom.

👉Consider quality pieces for your wardrobe essentials and find creative ways to complement them.

✴✳✳Visit factory outlets, look for seasonal sales and browse online shops for fabulous finds.

Before you go shopping for new wears, turn your wardrobe makeover into a fun.

De-Cluttering Your Wardrope.....1

If you are planning to downsize or just want to do a room makeover, you need to de-clutter first. You will not only create more space, you will additionally feel better afterwards. Here are some tips for re-arranging your Wardrope.

👉Step 1: Overcome procrastination.
Sounds familiar right?
To get started, you need to commit to your de-cluttering project. If you are not committed to doing it, you will be at the same place in three months from now.

Step 2: Schedule a time for your de-cluttering project.
Write it in your calendar and then –

Step 3: Show up and do it!
With this mindset, you will master your wardrobe makeover with ease. And if you schedule such a de-cluttering session twice a year, you will never ever have a wardrobe cluttered with stuff you don’t wear anymore.

⏊Start by emptying your wardrobe completely and take inventory.
Put each piece on one of the four de-cluttering piles:

✅KEEP,
✅SELL,
✅DONATE,
✅BIN.

Be honest with yourself: if you have not worn a piece in the past six months you won’t most probably wear it in the future.

Once you have completed your inventory.
✴Take action with each pile.
✴Take the ‘donation’ pile to a local charity shop.
✴Take the rubbish to the waste management centre or organise a pick-up.
✴Sell your ‘for sale’ items online or at a physical market. This, of course, requires time and effort, but if you try, you could earn some money from your de-cluttering job.

Washing Your Delicates? (Part 2)

⏊Using Machine Wash for Delicate Items

Washing machines are great at washing clothes, but some settings can be too harsh for delicates. Use the machine’s delicate cycle, or, if your machine doesn’t have this option, follow these simple rules:

✅As with hand washing, gather items of the same material together for a wash instead of mixing different fibres.

✅Only fill the machine halfway – this will help prevent fibres becoming tangled. If your machine has a half load option, it’s best to use it here, as it will reduce the amount of water used, conserving water and saving money.

✅Use a cool or lukewarm temperature setting, and a slow spin cycle. High temperatures can shrink some materials, while vigorous spinning can damage materials.

✅Use a cold rinse. Some people worry that cold washes won’t get their clothes clean, but as long as you’re using a good quality detergent, there’s no need to be concerned.

✅If you have a dryer, don’t be tempted to dry your delicate pieces of clothing in the machine. Instead, allow the delicate items to dry naturally, and away from direct sunlight to prevent bleaching.

Washing silk, wool, and linen doesn’t need to be something you should be afraid of, with these tips you can be assured you’re washing your delicate items in the safest way possible. So there’s no need to be put off buying any beautiful, yet delicate garments!

Washing Your Delicates? (Part 1)

Taking care of your delicate items of clothing – wool, silk & linen – is easy when you know how.

>>What Items are Delicate?
While towels and even some bedding materials are strong and sturdy and can handle quite vigorous washing, there are some materials to look out for. Delicate items include linen, silk, wool, and embroidered or embellished garments. Soft cottons and thin linens can become damaged through high heats and active spinning in a washing machine, and silk and woollens could fray or shrink if they are not taken care of properly. If you own any embroidered items, it’s also a good idea to keep these separate from the main wash, to ensure the needlework doesn’t unravel.

>>Should I Wash Delicate Items by Hand?
Hand washing is by far the best way to keep delicate or fragile clothes looking their best. Being in control of the entire washing process – including the exact water temperature and how much you handle the garment – is hugely beneficial, and hand washing means you can stop at any point. However, it’s not necessary to hand wash all the time, and many washing machines include a delicate cycle that can be used for such fragile or delicate garments.

>>How Do I Hand Wash Delicate Items?
It’s always best to check the wash care symbols on each individual items before washing your clothes to make sure they’re being treated in a suitable manner. Here are some general considerations to make when washing delicate items.

i. Gather items of the same material together; this reduces the chance of different materials becoming loose and tangling with the delicate fibres.
ii. Fill a basin with lukewarm water and a detergent intended for delicate items. A mild detergent will be gentle on your clothes as well as your skin.
iii. Gently swirl the garments in the basin, paying special attention to any stains or spots.
iv. Leave to air dry, either hanging from a rail, or – for items that are prone to stretching, such as woollens – leave the garment lying flat on a towel.

More Tips For Handling Your Wedding Gown!

>>Collecting the gown from the shop:
Take the dress home in a long garment bag preferably laying it along the back seat [of the car] or even hooked from its hanger at one window and then along the seat. The gown should then be hung somewhere high so any creases can drop out and no more will be created.

>>Leading up to the wedding:
When you get the gown home don’t constantly try it on or pull it out of the bag and show people. The more you handle liquid silk and delicate fabrics the more oils can mark the fabric and over time the marks will become worse.

>>On the day:
Keep in mind not to hang the gown on the fire sprinkler system on the ceiling of your hotel room, if you are lodging in an hotel. It will set off the hotel's sprinkler system and the room will be flooded, including the gown. Just the sort of stress you wouldn't want on your wedding day!

>>How To Store Your Wedding Gown

While it takes months to find the right wedding dress or create the dress of your dreams, most gowns are often discarded and left to hang with no care after the day has passed.
Now, if you’ve had thoughts of keeping or selling your wedding dress, the delicate fabrics must then be well taken care of.
Here is a few secrets on how to properly care for your gown.

RULE 1: DRY CLEAN WITHOUT DELAY

You need to clean your gown immediately as, over time, stains will set and they will become more and more difficult to remove. Ideally, you want someone to drop off your gown while you are on your honeymoon, or Kudus InstaLaundry can come and pick up your gown before you go.

RULE 2: WRAP IT UP

The only way to store your gown long-term is to box it with acid-free tissue paper. Kudus InstaLaundry recommends boxing your gowns. Ideally, you want to keep the gown away from anything that could stain it over time so acid-free tissue paper is fantastic and by boxing the gown it seals in the air. Alternatively, some couture brides frame their gowns and hang them in a 3D shadow box on the wall.

If it is impossible to clean and box the gown prior to the honeymoon, store the dress in a 100 per cent cotton garment bag, as plastic cleaning bags don’t allow the garment to breathe. Make sure to hang the dress on a white padded silk coat hanger as opposed to a lacquered wooden coat hanger.

Store veils, accessories and silk shoes with the dress. If your shoes are made of the same silk and wrap separately then box in. Boxing is also a good way to know that everything is all together.

RULE 3: STORE SENSIBLY

Store items somewhere that isn’t damp or humid, and out of the sunlight. If we hang a garment under the light in the studio for long enough it will turn yellow as it’s a natural fibre. So store [the boxed dress] under the bed or in the cupboard, and make sure it’s flat.
