on to improve urban livelihoods through solid waste management WV has designed a unique program under the title “Global Program to develop livelihood for poverty affected population through a multi-sectoral established and monitored waste management system” to create livelihood opportunities through waste management while supporting local authorities to implement better policies and regulations in Philippines, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. The cooperation of the three countries aims to develop valuable and strong recommendations related to solid waste management (SWM). The synergies of the 3 countries will promote mutual exchange of ideas, innovative project models and cohesive guidelines for future scaling up of project activities regionally. In Sri Lanka, World Vision Lanka and SEVANATHA Urban Resource Centre jointly implement the PHINLA project in Ja-Ela, Wattala PS areas and Chavakachcheri UC area from 2019 to 2022. The expected impact is that waste management systems in urban areas directly contribute to improving the livelihood of urban communities, and result in better health and hygiene, cleaner environment and viable for sustainable and nation-wide/ regional up scale.
