"ANCHOR OF HOPE ".....is a group of sailor's wives who have got together to share their many blessings with the less fortunate,through their non profit charitable organization.The members take pride in the organization's name which is derived from their husbands profession. "ANCHOR OF HOPE " had its humble beginning in the year 2003,December in Panjim,Goa when a couple of like minded ladies came
together with nothing but DETERMINATION IN THEIR HEART AND CONVICTION IN THEIR BELIEFS to pursue their goal. The organization consists of dedicated homemakers,working professionals and ladies pursuing their education; they may all not have the time , but mind you ,THEY ALL DEFINITELY DO HAVE THE HEART . " ANCHOR OF HOPE " Believes that GENEROSITY CONSISTS NOT IN THE SUM GIVEN,BUT IN THE MANNER IN WHICH IT IS BESTOWED . It is here that they offer not only financial and material assistance but their valuable time working effortlessly and unassumingly towards their commitment. The satisfaction gained when they see a smile on the face of an orphan, the twinkle in the eye of an HIV + child,the mellow look of a defiant delinquent or the reassuring comfortable warmth on the face of the elderly in the twilight of their lives is truly gratifying .... MOMENTS AS THESE HAVE TO BE EXPERIENCED , TO BE APPRECIATED . "ANCHOR OF HOPE " emphasises more on education. In a span of 12 years the organization has sponsored the education of many a children who have completed a degree in Nursing, B.A, B Com, B.B.A. , I H.M. ,Fine Arts ,Secondary school education, Higher Secondary School education ,Home Science , Tuition fees for varied courses .the group also provides toiletries , long term medications for patients with leprosy, HIV and those undergoing periodic dialysis . Visits to designated organizations , twice a month are held accompanied by snacks and gifts . A monthly meeting is held wherein activites for the month is decided and work done is evaluated . To enable them in carrying out their activities,the "ANCHOR OF HOPE " organises various fund raising programmes like subscribing to raffles , bingo sessions,whiz drives,news paper collection drives,dine n dance ,jumble sales , monthly membership contribution and donations from well wishers . The "ANCHOR OF HOPE " looks forward to grow in strength , both numerically and financially with each passing year and encourages ladies whose husband is a seafarer to join them and be with them in all they do and help them make their dreams come true .
