One of the most common questions we get is:

“What licence do I need to operate a cleaning drone?”

For professional drone cleaning operations, you’ll typically require a Specific Category licence/authorisation, which allows you to carry out more advanced drone operations than those permitted under standard Open Category rules.

The good news?

You don’t have to figure it all out yourself.

At Drone Clean, we provide:

✔ Guidance on the licensing process
✔ 2–3 days of hands-on training
✔ Setup and operational support
✔ Ongoing advice as you get started

If you’re considering introducing drone cleaning into your business, we’re happy to explain the process and show you the systems in action.

A recent roof softwashing project carried out in Co. Wicklow using the Spray SR drone.

This job included both the roof of the office building and the large residential property beside it — where access with ladders wasn’t possible due to the height of the building.

The Spray SR drone was used to safely apply a biocide treatment designed to remove algae over time, without the need for scaffolding or access equipment.

✅ Safe ground-based application
✅ Ideal for large or difficult-to-access roofs
✅ Low-pressure softwashing application
✅ Efficient coverage across complex properties

Drone cleaning offers a smarter and safer way to carry out roof treatments at height.
