Operation Limit – targeting drink and drug drivers to make our roads safer – begins on 1 December 2025.

But we arrest drink and drug drivers all year round.

Last night (26 Nov) we arrested a 64-year-old man in Kendal after his roadside breath test was more than three times the drink-drive limit.

This morning (27 Nov), he was charged with drink driving and driving without insurance and is due in court in December.

Whilst on Tuesday (25 Nov) we arrested a 36-year-old Lancashire man who failed a roadside breath test in London Road in Carlisle – blowing close to double the legal limit. He was charged and will appear in court in December.

Remember to plan ahead when you go out and have made arrangements to get home safely.

Drink and drug driving ruins lives and it is completely avoidable.

Our officers are highly trained to spot potential drink or drug drivers and we have the technology to test for it. If you are over the limit, you will be arrested - no excuses.
