Awaab’s Law: Protecting Residents from Damp and Mould 🏠

From Monday, Awaab’s Law comes into force – setting stricter rules to protect people living in social housing from hazardous conditions like damp and mould.

We understand how stressful these issues can be. That’s why we’re committed to supporting you every step of the way.

If you spot damp or mould in your home:

✅ Call us on 0191 278 7878 to report it immediately
✅ Visit our website (link in comments) for tips on prevention and treatment
✅ We’ll keep you updated and, if needed, arrange temporary accommodation to keep you safe

Under Awaab’s Law, housing providers must:

✔️ Start investigations within 10 working days
✔️ Fix serious risks within 5 days – or 24 hours in emergencies
✔️ Offer alternative accommodation if your home can’t be made safe quickly

We’ve reviewed our policies and upgraded our systems to make sure we’re fully compliant and ready to respond faster and more effectively.
