I know most people wouldn’t entertain the idea right now of spending a day in a hot, sheltered, paved courtyard hacking at unruly wisteria, rose bushes and all manner of shrubbery until you have half of Wedmore stuck to your skin and leaves in your bra, but, you know, I kind of love it. Very therapeutic.

The tangible “before and after” feeling is rather rewarding. When I say “hack”, I’m quite careful really, and I’m enjoying using my new hedge trimmer waaaaaaay, way more than I should.

When I get my act together and start remembering to provide photos of the “before” situation, I shall post some rather impressive images. If I say so myself 😊

Anyway, if you need some light gardening and management (I don’t have a tractor so don’t ask me to clear a field), let me know! I’ll rock up with my trusty hedge trimmer, lawn mower and secateurs for a few hours of gratuitous garden surgery while sip margaritas in the sun 🌞 Happy days!

It’s a wrap! Last Friday I said goodbye to my last Worcestershire client, and I’m now properly based in beautiful Wedmore. After eight years living in Upton upon Severn, we are looking forward to Somerset life, and being closer to our family and our Bristol and Devon friends.

Thank you to all our lovely, loyal clients in The Shire, and the friends who have supported us over the last decade 💕

Now, all that remains is for The Husband to bring our newly built (by himself) Tiny House down that M5 tomorrow to its new home on the edge of Wedmore 🎉💪🏚️

I’m available now, so please get in touch if you need any help around the house … ANYTHING, to distract me from the mountain of possessions that are unlikely to fit into said Tiny House 🫣

I’m a bit of a fusspot when it comes to domestic pets, particularly doggies, when the weather is hot. I’m sure most pet owners are too, and do all they can to be mindful of searing heat. Let’s face it, YOU know your noodles better than anyone, but it’s good to be reminded of the perils, and tips to help minimise the risk of discomfort and harm.

Place cool mats around the house - they might use them, they might not
Put extra water bowls out, even in the garden, and add ice cubes
Put a small paddling pool or container in a shady spot in the garden so they can have a dip
Let them play with the hose (before the ban starts obviously)!
Encourage calm, as opposed to competitive games of tug or chasing
Leave fans on
Keep curtains closed so they can find cool spots around their home
Look out for signs of dehydration

And obviously, whilst this hideous heat continues, don’t walk them between 11am and 4pm. If you have to, make it quick - a diminished exercise regime will not hurt them for a week or so.

And we know that some humans struggle with the heat too, so if you’d like me to do a quick evening walk with your pooch, I’m offering a discounted rate for the remainder of June … £15 for a 30 minute walk. I’ll keep to shady locations and provide some low impact stimulation, (and a hose down when they get home if they like being sprayed with cold water)!
