Larick Beach Clean

A big thanks to Dylan, Jean, Rachael, Sarah and Rupert who turned up to our beach clean on Saturday. We had great weather, until the haar swept in! Collecting 3 bags of litter from the walk down to and along the beach at the common. We had great chat and Rupert took the idea of beach combing literally🤣.
Keep your eyes peeled for the next date....

Hey folks,
Really sorry for the short notice but we are having to cancel this month's beach clean due to a positive covid case. We only just received the PCR results.
Thank you so much for all your support and help with this project so far and we will be back at the beach in February.
Thanks,
Susan and library

With another year rolling in, what are your ocean intentions? 🌊

As ocean activists, our fight comes from our love and passion for the water. How will you connect with the waves this year? 🏄 🚣 🏊

Cold water swimming, longboarding and party waves on bellyboards are a few of the SAS teams' plans'!

Happy New Year!

You'll all be thrilled to know that the next beach clean is on Sunday the 23rd January 11am - 1pm

We are meeting at the wee beach in front of the houses along harbour road.
For anyone who would like to join us we will supply gloves, bags and litter pickers.

The whole family is welcome to come along but please be aware that it is your responsibility to look after yourself and your family members/pets.

It is pretty cold out there so please dress warmly and wear suitable footwear for the beach.

Thanks so much for everyone's help so far. We really are making a difference.

As for the Tidal pool - we are going to arrange a meeting later this month for everyone to get together (possibly virtually) and discuss what they want to happen and how we can move forward with this. Exciting times.

P.S. please excuse the blurry photograph. It was very cold that night and I may have been shivering when taking the photo!

P.P.S. please note we have had to change the date of this month's beach clean due to tides. So we will now be meeting on Sunday 23rd at 11am.
Sorry for the late notice but we don't want anyone to go out with the tide! Thanks!

Thank you to everyone who came along to our beach clean on Sunday. It was a cold one 🥶.
This beach is covered in lots of little bits of plastic and everyone did a great job with their pickers. We will keep you posted about when the next one is!

New work from our friend Kurt Jackson Contemporary Artist 🙌

Kurt gathers the nurdles on his local beach and incorporates his findings into his artwork, which he has worked on for the past twenty-five years.

Nurdles, also known as Mermaids’ tears or resin pellets, are used in the manufacturing of plastic products, which have been polluting our blue and green spaces for decades.

A new exhibition by Kurt at Dovecot Studios in Edinburgh, highlights the ever-present disaster of plastic pollution, with its devastating effects, through painting, collage and tapestry.

👉 Head to https://buff.ly/3jYifWn to view the exhibition today until the 5th February 2022

Hey folks,

Sorry to say we have had to cancel this month's beach clean. Thank you so much to everyone who was planning to help out tomorrow.

However, we will be back out on the 21st November. Hopefully see you then and thanks again for all the hard work that you have all put in to cleaning up our beaches. We are definitely noticing a difference everytime we are at the beaches.
