I haven’t soldered in a decade, but my job, once upon a time was working with both gas and electricity.

So, I popped to Toolstation UK at somercotes, and picked up some pipe, fittings, flux, solder, pipe cleaning tool and a new gas bottle, and got back on the horse this morning.

It could have been much cleaner, if I had remembered to buy some emery cloth, but for me, this is a big accomplishment as I didn’t think I had the confidence to pick up the blowtorch again.

Do you just clean?

No, I’m a multi skilled bloke, and I started hubby cleans to work around the loss of my works van, due to engine failure. So I had to be quick thinking, and figure out what would work from my wife’s vehicle, whilst we save for a replacement van.

I’m actually a soft landscaper and ground maintenance professional, but prior to that career, I spent over a decade working with gas and electrical supplies, inbetween renovating our current and former home.

So faced with the options, the cleaning of homes and cars, worked perfectly, along with offering a handyman service.

The vehicle you drive doesn’t dictate the quality of your work, but it can limit it, but I offer a professional and non judgmental service, as I’m also diagnosed with OCD and anxiety, so I know how difficult asking for help can be.

I also know how difficult talking can be too, so if it’s easier to text, WhatsApp or email, I’m open to whatever communication method is easier for you.

It’s been 13 years since I built and tiled this to drop the bath into, but sealing along the mosaics with sealant is so blooming hard due to grout lines.

I’m looking forward to the day when I strip the bathroom back to the plaster again, and redesign the room.

I’m fortunate that I can do all my own plumbing and tiling, but when I did this, I was rushing so my wife and daughter could move back home, as I took the bungalow back to a complete shell, so next time, it will be so much better.

I fitted the cheapest shower enclosure, cheapest radiators, and the tile combination was a mistake, but at least I fitted a decent quality mixer shower.

It’s better to buy good quality second hand parts, than cheap new parts, as although they’ve lasted, they diminish quickly.

It’s been 13 years since I blocked off the doorway, tiled the area and fitted the shower and shower tray, so the grout it ready for replacing at some point, but it gets a good weekly clean with various drill powered brushes and eco friendly cleaners.

It goes without saying that the shower wasn’t running, because water and power tools don’t mix!

Nobody likes cleaning blinds, but the best method I’ve found is to vacuum both sides of the blind, including the ribbons.
Then go over each slat with a scrub daddy damp duster, followed by a wipe with a microfibre.

It’s not a quick process, but you’re capturing the dust, rather than just moving it around.

General microfibre, glass microfibre and a car detailing drying towel, are all used in the process of getting your bath clean, and the taps shiny.
