Growing a small business is hard, but giving up on something that saved you more than once would be harder…

My little business has kept me going through some low times in my life

It’s given me a purpose when I felt worthless

It’s given me an income when I didn’t have penny to my name

It’s given me a reason to get out of bed in the morning when hiding from the world felt more favourable

It’s given me a creative and stimulated mind when everything else was drawing a blank

It’s given me lessons and taught me how to draw strength from myself instead of counting on others

A few years ago, when I used to work on the tools, an old customer said to me “Oooh a BMW, you’re only a cleaner, we must be paying you too much”

It was a 2017 plate 1 series with 80000 miles on the clock 😂 not that it matters

But it’s that mindset, and we’ve seen it and heard it time and time again

The truth is, cleaning is classed a low skill profession, and by default, cleaners are looked down on by many

Like the old saying “I’d rather scrub toilets than do that”

Those that look down on it forget that cleaning is playing a part in keeping a family home running, allowing families to spend their free time at the weekends taking their kids out, keeping workplaces safe and germ free, helping a family out when they’re at rock bottom, and for us, it’s also large scale restoration projects, working around trauma and crime scene, scraping bodily fluid decomposition off surfaces and much much more

This service always brings the most questions. It's such a niche area of cleaning, and truthfully, it's something most people don't think about until it happens to them.

So we've put together some FAQs about unattended death cleaning and what it can involve.

Q: If someone passes away and is unattended, how long does it take for decomposition to begin?

A: Decomposition begins soon after death, but there isn't a set timeframe for when it becomes noticeable.

Temperature, humidity, the environment and the length of time before discovery can all affect how quickly decomposition progresses.

Even when someone is discovered within the first day or two, it doesn't necessarily mean there is no biohazard risk.

As decomposition progresses, bodily fluids can be released and surrounding materials may become contaminated. This is why specialist assessment, cleaning and appropriate PPE are so important.

Once again, it’s Thursday and I’m not sure how it came around so quickly 😫🤯

I started the week in Chester completing a fire restoration assessment for a commercial fire in a salon, we will likely be starting the job this week too

We’ve been on some clearance work and extreme deep cleaning too ☣️

We’ve also had an emergency call out for 9 flats requiring a builders clean before Monday 👷

It’s all hands on deck and it’s a busy start to the month!
