Thursday: Did you know the causes of disc brake squeal can range from glazed pads or rotors (often caused by aerosol brake cleaners) to inadequate piston retraction within the caliper causing brake drag (old seals)? Other causes include a miss-aligned caliper and inadequate lubrication of the pins, not allowing the caliper to properly float.

Thursday: If a vehicle with ABS has a pull to the left or right when stopping, rather than start installing new calipers and brake hoses, install a pressure gauge at each wheel and check for differences in pressures while applying the brakes to the vehicle while it is on the lift. A drastic difference in pressure may indicate a problem with a hydraulic valve in the ABS system.
