BAE Barrow-in-Furness required a long-term solution for addressing biohazardous cleaning, such as body fluid spills, accidents, and trauma.

On a site with over 13000 staff, situations that require specialist cleaning are not unusual. Given the tight entry restrictions and high security level of the facility, they decided to provide their own contingency by upskilling their cleaning team to address biohazard situations on site.

BAE approached Ultima to deliver the training, and, working closely with their team, we developed a course tailored to their requirements. This course combined classroom teaching with hands-on experience to upskill their in-house team. During our visit this month, for example, we adapted the programme to include sanitising, cleaning, and disposal of pigeon and gull guano.

To date, Ultima has trained over 200 members of BAE's exceptional cleaning team and continues to collaborate with its management team to refine the course in response to evolving requirements.

This powerful 10-part series takes viewers behind the scenes of some of the UK’s most challenging and sensitive cleaning operations, shining a light on the essential work carried out by specialist teams like ours.
