I’m interested to know how much Gedling Borough Council’s so-called “partnership” with WISE is costing local taxpayers.

It is frankly unacceptable that the Council can find funding to partner with an organisation that delivers little visible benefit to the community, yet repeatedly refuses to fund or partner with Spritely Sustainable CIC — an organisation that is embedded in the community and demonstrably delivers far more impact on the ground.

Spritely was active before WISE. We were already tackling littering, antisocial behaviour, graffiti, and environmental neglect — issues the Council itself acknowledges are widespread. We have done this for over a year, funded almost entirely through community donations and volunteer effort, while being told there was “no budget” for street cleansing or preventative work.

And yet, suddenly, a partnership with WISE is announced.

That raises serious questions.

If Gedling Borough Council recognises there is a significant and ongoing problem with environmental neglect and antisocial behaviour, why were the organisations already doing this work — visibly, consistently, and at no cost to the Council — not approached first?

Why is public money being directed away from grassroots groups that are clearly delivering outcomes, pride, and wellbeing for residents?

Gedling Borough Council, why not fund or formally partner with Spritely — or indeed any community organisation that is stepping in to do the work residents expect their Council to be doing?

The community deserves transparency, fairness, and funding decisions based on impact — not optics.

✨💚 Defibrillators are hugely important assets to communities… we need to stop this mindless vandalism 💚✨

MAYBE spray paint should only be sold behind the counter?

It’d stop these vandals from stealing them, as it’s very unlikely they actually buy the paint at upwards of £10 a can.

Increase the age limit?

Prevention is better than cure, this needs stopping at source.

Graffiti causes more than physical damage.

It shapes how places are perceived, often signalling neglect and reinforcing harmful narratives of deprivation, which can negatively affect community pride and wellbeing.

We can’t accept this, we won’t accept this!

✨💚Powerful Words💚✨

We know that cleaner, greener, well-maintained neighbourhoods deter crime, boost mental wellbeing, and foster social cohesion.

This is not just a litter-pick—it is early intervention.
✨It is crime prevention.
✨It is a health strategy.
✨It is behavioural change.
✨It is hope in action.

Thank you Cllr. Wendy Lukacs Arnold North you were amazing!

✨💚 Last night this happened! 💚✨
Thank you so much to our County Councillors John & Wendy!

I was asked to be a speaker at the Gedling Reform UK Members Meeting, to talk about Spritely and our project in Arnold.

This was shortly followed by being presented with this cheque, a member donating £40 and then winning some fizz on the raffle 😅 not bad going for a school night!

Thank you for making me feel so welcome Gedling Reform UK!
