Sparklean Domestic services for the modern family who just doesn't have the time to worry about dusting and ironing! So I decided to set up my own cleaning company!!

As a busy working mum with 3 children I found it almost impossible to find a good and reliable individual to help keep on top of the cleaning and ironing. As well as house cleaning, I also help with ironing and house monitoring when you're on holiday to include feeding small animals, watering plants, collecting the mail and ensuring the house doesn't look unoccupied. Laundry tip - wash your whites and colours separately (obviously) but with separate detergents!!! Use a colour detergent for your colours, which enhances the colour of your clothes. Whites detergent contains bleaching agents to enhance the whites but bleaches your coloured items. Colour detergent has no bleaching agents and so makes your whites turn grey over time. Common sense really but how many of us actually thought to do this. I do now and it does make a difference

I am loving the powers of bicarbonate of soda (sad I know).

Add a small bowl in the fridge to neutralise nasty smells. Replace once a month to keep the fridge smelling fresh.

Pour 200g of bicarbonate of soda, followed by a kettle of boiling water down your sinks once a week to keep them clean and unblocked. This works in the kitchen, shower room and bathroom.

Don't spend a fortune on air fresheners and plug-ins. Instead buy a bottle of your favourite essential oils and put a few drops on your light bulbs. As the bulbs heat up, they will emit a nice gentle aroma. A bottle of essential oils will last you well over a year and work out so much cheaper than purpose made air fresheners.

You can easily change the aroma throughout the year by applying different oils to your bulbs.

Burnt saucepans? Don't bin them and rush out to buy more. With a little patience you'll most likely be able to salvage them.

Fill the pan with water (to cover the burnt area) and apply salt (the more the better but at least 2 tablespoons). Leave the pan soaking in the salt water overnight and then boil for 10 minutes. The salt will lift the burnt on debris allowing you to clean it off using a wire scourer.

If you are hiring a cleaner don't be afraid to tell them what you want done. There's little point paying them to vacuum and dust when your doing it yourself 3 or 4 times a week.

A cleaner should be doing the jobs you just don't have time to do yourself such as cleaning inside display cabinets, washing the skirting etc.

Also, there is no need to clean because the cleaner is coming - it kind of defeats the object!!!! But you'd be surprised how many of us do it.

OK the business is now officially up and running. What do I do???? In short - cleaning and/or ironing. The longer version - I can carry out weekly/fortnightly cleans of your home, one off deep cleans because of a special event (new baby, Christmas, birthday), end of tenancy cleans and I can take your washing and bring it home ironed!!

Life is just too short to stress about the dusting when you're working full time and have the kids to look after. Let me remove that stress from your life.
