⚠️ Rats, Mice & Insects Don’t Just Damage Property… They Can Damage Your Health Too ⚠️

At Perish-A-Pest, we believe pest control isn’t just about getting rid of unwanted visitors — it’s about protecting you, your family, your staff and your customers from the very real health risks pests can bring into homes and businesses.

🐀 Rodents such as rats and mice can spread dangerous diseases through their urine, droppings, saliva and nesting materials. One disease people may have heard of is Hantavirus which has been in the news a lot recently, which can be contracted by breathing in contaminated dust from rodent waste. While rare in the UK, it highlights just how important proper cleaning and professional pest control really are.

Other illnesses linked to rodents can include:
• Leptospirosis (Weil’s Disease)
• Salmonella
• E. coli contamination
• Rat Bite Fever
• Toxoplasmosis

🪳 Cockroaches and insects can also spread bacteria and contaminate food preparation areas, while fleas, mites and bed bugs can cause irritation, allergic reactions and sleepless nights.

⚠️ NEVER vacuum or sweep large amounts of rodent droppings dry, as this can release harmful particles into the air. Always wear gloves, ventilate the area and use proper disinfectants — or better still, call a professional.

The joys of being self employed… I asked myself if I could have a holiday this year.
I agreed to give myself February the 29th, 30th and the 31st off this year.

Today we carried out a job we don’t do every day here in Cornwall. We did a cockroach treatment.

(Sorry for the muffled voice, I’m talking through a respirator.)

We carried out a floor to ceiling treatment for instant knockdown, and followed it up with Hoy Hoy traps and a gel bait treatment.

Cockroaches are a public health pest and can cause illnesses such as Salmonella, Dysentery, Gastroenteritis, and Typhoid by contaminating food and surfaces with their bacteria. They can also trigger allergies and asthma via their protein-rich droppings, saliva, and their shed skin.

It was a real pleasure to help the customer and for us to have a small break from our usual rat jobs for today.

As you can see, we use the best chemicals on the market and the most thorough treatment methods to enable us to achieve the best results for our customers.

The tenants informed us that they had had a pest controller in previously and they had finished their treatment in 45 minutes - it took us 3 hours. They said that the treatment they had previously received wasn’t as thorough as the service we provided and as a result the treatment failed.

As you can see, our treatment started to work before we had even had a chance to leave the property.
