Be honest — is this really a bad first clean?

Would you honestly be bothered sending an email with photographs for this?

The bin has clearly been cleaned. There are a couple of marks left, and one looks like something has actually melted into the plastic. We clean bins — we can’t magically turn an old council bin back into a brand-new one.

And before anyone says the bottom is still wet, that’s deodoriser and disinfectant. We mop the bin dry first, then spray that in afterwards so it is left sanitised and smelling fresh.

I’m not really sure what they expected the email to achieve. Did they think I was going to give the lads a telling-off over a permanent mark in the plastic?

All it achieved was a full refund and being taken off the round.

We’ll always sort out a genuine bad clean, but I’m not throwing the lads under the bus when they’ve clearly done the job properly. Some stains, scratches and melted marks simply do not come off.

Hopefully the next cleaner meets the standard they’re expecting. Something tells me they’ll have a lot more to complain about when they see what a proper half-job looks like.

Had my first deep clean today and it's definitely much better so thank you, but I thought the dry the bin as per the website, there's still some dirt on the top and bits on the floor with a small pool of water as per the images.

Can everyone please go and follow the JJS Bin Cleaning Liverpool and Sefton Page please.

Lee has been trying to get his bin cleaning service off the ground for around six months, but like many small local businesses, he has found it difficult to build enough regular work.

I’ve now offered to help him grow his round and hopefully get JJS doing as well as Adrenify has done.

For me, it is actually a good challenge.

Was Adrenify just a fluke, or am I genuinely good at building and growing local services?

There is no question that Adrenify has done brilliantly, but could I do it all over again with another business that is practically starting from scratch?

That is the question.

One thing I do know is that when someone asks me for help, I will always do my best and go above and beyond for them.

Originally, my aim with Adrenify was to grow it into a massive operation with multiple vans and provide as many jobs as possible.

The reality is that the expenses and margins in bin cleaning do not suit that model very well. Not without a constant battle to cover wages, vans, fuel and other costs while waiting for outstanding customer payments to come in.

But I still enjoy building services, creating work and helping people get themselves established.

One saying that has always stuck with me is:

“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”

Maybe I did not achieve my original goal of building one huge business that provided as many jobs as possible.

But that does not mean I have to give up on the passion behind it.

Just because a business is not mine does not mean I cannot help build it, support the person running it and create more work for someone who is willing to graft.

So this is the next challenge.

I’m pleased to say JJS Bin Cleaning is my first proper client.
After building Adrenify from scratch and running it, I learned a lot about what actually works in a local service business — websites, booking forms, customer messages, payments, scheduling, admin systems and keeping everything organised behind the scenes.
As most people know, I’ve now stepped away from running Adrenify day to day and the lads have taken it on.

Recently, they asked me to come in and help get a few things organised behind the scenes, as the work had become too much for one van to keep manageable long term.

Adrenify has grown to the point where the lads are almost at capacity, and rather than keep stretching the round too far, rushing work or risking customers being let down, some sensible changes have had to be made.

Tom will now be doing two 5-day weeks and two 4-day weeks each month, giving himself two Wednesdays off so the work stays manageable and he gets a well-deserved rest. Having done this work myself, I know how exhausting it can be when you’ve got a full round and a high volume of jobs to get through each day, especially in this heat.

Because of that, JJS Bin Cleaning completed their first day yesterday, taking on some of the Wednesday work in areas including L16, L11, L13, L14, L6, L4 and L36.

The majority of Monday Wavertree customers have also been contacted and given the option to join JJS instead, as those jobs were becoming harder to keep reliable on the current Adrenify round.

I know changes like this can be frustrating, and I’m sorry for the inconvenience. But this hasn’t been done for the sake of it. It’s been done so customers have a proper alternative instead of the lads trying to take on more than one van can realistically manage.
I’d rather see Adrenify last, stay reliable and be manageable for them than see it stretched too far.

This way, Tom gets a couple of midweek breaks each month, Adrenify becomes more manageable, and customers in areas they were struggling to keep in a sensible round now have another local option.

It also gives JJS Bin Cleaning a proper start with real customers already on a round.

I’ve built JJS their website and system, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.

JJS will be helping with overflow work in selected areas, as well as covering areas like Sefton, Kirkby, North Liverpool and surrounding areas.
