🚨 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗮 "𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗽𝘁" 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗺𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗜𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲... 🚨

Today, I attended a property where the customer was experiencing smoke pouring back into the room every time they lit their stove.

The chimney had allegedly been swept less than a month ago, and a sweep certificate had been issued confirming that the flue had been swept to the top and had passed a smoke evacuation check.

𝗛𝗼𝘄𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿, 𝗮 𝗖𝗖𝗧𝗩 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆.

The flue was found to be completely blocked with 𝙙𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙩𝙖𝙧 𝙙𝙚𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙨, to the point where it was impossible to get the camera to the top of the chimney. In a flue this heavily restricted, a smoke evacuation test simply could not have been passed.

The second photo shows just some of the tar and debris that was removed to restore the flue to a safe working condition.
