🎨💚 Feature Wall Refresh for a Special Someone 💚🎨

Today we had the pleasure of painting a feature wall for a good man named John Giles — someone I looked up to like a stepdad when I was little, up until around the age of 6 or 7.

We gave his room a fresh burst of life with a bold, popping green that’s full of energy and warmth. It was a real honour to brighten up the space for someone who played a part in my early years.

Small jobs with big meaning — this one meant a lot. 💚

🧼💔 Not Every Job Is Just a Job… 🧼💔

This week, we were called out to an emergency clean in Leeds city centre – a narrow, hidden space behind some air conditioning units where someone had been sleeping rough.

We were asked to remove rubbish and check for anything dangerous like needles to make the area safe for public access. But as we cleared it out, we came across small signs of a life being lived there – a blanket, makeshift bedding, bits and pieces that showed someone had tried to make a little home.

It’s our job to clean and make environments safe, and we’re proud to do that. But sometimes, it’s hard not to feel a little sad dismantling what might have been someone’s only safe place for the night.

We have deep empathy for anyone living without a roof over their head. Everyone deserves dignity and support.

It’s our busiest (and sweatiest!) week of the year at Dean & Co Cleaning Services Ltd – the big student changeover is in full swing!

We recently worked on this original Victorian fireplace, which had been buried under layers and layers of old paint. We carefully stripped it all back to reveal the solid cast iron beneath, and gave it a fresh new look with a classic matte black finish.

The end result? A stunning, bold centrepiece that brings charm and character back to the room. 😍🖤

There’s something really satisfying about uncovering and restoring beautiful old features like this!

We’ve just finished a job where we not only carried out our specialist cleaning services, but also stripped back this beautiful wooden beam in a bathroom that had been hidden under layers of old paint.

It took a bit of elbow grease (and a lot of patience!) but the result is so worth it — the natural wood now brings warmth and character to this modern space. 🌿🪵

“It’s just cleaning”… right? 😂🧽

This week, while prepping for a void property clean, one of our team was asked why on earth a cleaner would need to do a risk assessment.

Well… where do we begin? 😅

This particular property featured:
• Blood, vomit & faeces 💩
• Urine-soaked flooring 💦
• Rat droppings & chewed wiring 🐀
• Broken glass & needles 💉
• And the faintest scent of “what on earth died in here” 👃

So, yes—a risk assessment is definitely needed.
Not just for our team’s safety (which is priority number one), but to make sure we’re handling hazardous materials properly, wearing the correct PPE, and protecting the surrounding environment too.
