This quarter, we're celebrating someone who goes above and beyond every single day – Moni!

Moni doesn't just show up for our young person, she shows up for the whole team too. Even on the toughest days, she walks in with a smile on her face, brings the laughs, and gives her absolute best.

➡️ Her relationship with our young person is something really special. Moni is so in tune with her that she can almost predict how she's feeling and how she'll respond – a genuinely impressive skill that makes a real difference.

We think it's safe to say everyone at Rowan House agrees: if Moni's on shift with you, you're having a good day!

Have you had the pleasure of meeting our new starters yet? ⤵️

We’ve recently welcomed nine new team members to Madiba, and we’re delighted to introduce them!

Our new starters are currently completing their induction, getting to know the Madiba way and building the knowledge and skills they need to feel confident in their new roles.

Starting a new job can be exciting (and maybe a little nerve-wracking), so we’re making sure our newest team members have the training, support and guidance they need as they begin their Madiba journey.

We’re so pleased to have you as part of the team and can’t wait to see you grow, develop and make a difference to the children and young people in our care 💜

Join us in welcoming our new starters!

Our team love to work at Madiba 🤩

Why? They all have their own reasons, but these are the main ones:

👉 Feeling supported – Our team has access to a substantial support framework, including wellbeing support when needed.
👉 Being recognised – From Hero of the Month and Hero of the Quarter to long-service awards, we love celebrating the people who go the extra mile.
👉 Learning and developing – With comprehensive training, funded qualifications and ongoing development opportunities, there’s always room to grow.
👉 Building a career – We believe in supporting our people to develop their skills, progress within Madiba and achieve their career goals.
👉 Having a good work-life balance – Our 2-on, 4-off rota is designed to give our teams plenty of time away from work to rest, recharge and enjoy life outside their roles.

Our Deputy Manager, Catherine, particularly loves the way we look after our staff...

But to us, it’s all part of creating a workplace where our people feel valued, supported and able to thrive – because looking after our team is just as important as looking after the children and young people in our care.

Thinking about joining Madiba? Then you'll probably want to know the answer to this question:

➡️ "What kind of shifts will I work?"

Our children's homes operate 24/7, 365 days a year, so our Residential Support Workers work a range of shifts, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins.

But we know that having a good work-life balance is important too.

That's why our day staff currently work a rolling 2 shifts on, 4 shifts off rota, while our waking night staff work a 4 shifts on, 4 shifts off rota, with rotas planned in advance to help you plan your time both at work and at home.

Working in children's residential care can be demanding, but at Madiba, we make sure you also have plenty of time away from work to rest, recharge and enjoy the things that matter to you.

It’s that time again...

Time to go back to school and start learning again 📚

At Madiba, we believe every day brings an opportunity to learn something new, develop our skills and grow, both personally and professionally.

That’s why we’re delighted to share that we’ve now completed Phase 1 of our Leadership Skills Workshops!

The sessions covered:

✔️ Communicating as a Leader
✔️ Professional Boundaries
✔️ People Management.

The workshops were attended by our Deputy Managers, Registered Managers and Senior Leaders from across the organisation, allowing our leaders to learn, share experiences and develop the skills they need to support their teams effectively.

Investing in our people is incredibly important to us because we want our team to have the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to thrive in their roles and continue developing their careers at Madiba.

Well done, everyone, for passing Phase 1 👏👏

Join us in wishing our team good luck for Phase 2, which we’ll be starting this month!

Have you had the pleasure of meeting Martin? 🤩

In this month’s Meet the Team series, we’re introducing you to Martin Scarth, our Dual Registered Manager.

Martin’s been at Madiba for 2 years and 3 months, during which time he’s made a real difference to the young people we care and support.

Here’s what he had to say when we asked him what he enjoyed most about working at Madiba:

"It’s an absolute blessing to be able to help some of the young people who are really struggling and who are currently in settings that can’t meet their needs. The chance to make a real difference, improve quality of life and be the reason someone smiles is truly a life-changing experience."

➡️ Fun fact: Martin hasn’t had a day off work due to illness since 1994. when he broke his thumb and needed an operation! It’s also the only bone he’s ever broken.

Thank you, Martin, for your dedication, compassion and commitment to helping children and young people thrive. We’re proud to have you as part of the Madiba team 💜
