Our Textile Based Ventilation systems offer numerous advantages, notably due to their lightweight design, weighing only 260-330 g/m². This significantly reduces the physical strain on installers, allowing for quicker assembly and improved ergonomics on-site. Additionally, the compact volume of our textile ducts simplifies transportation, making logistics more efficient.

We provide pre-measured aluminium suspension rails, eliminating the need for on-site adjustments, further enhancing workflow efficiency. When shipped, our textile ducts are carefully folded and packaged in lightweight boxes, each weighing no more than 25 kg, facilitating easier handling and storage at construction sites.

Our commitment to customer service extends beyond product delivery. We offer comprehensive support for washing and maintaining Textile Based Ventilation systems, as well offering our own install service. Whether it’s for maintenance or new projects, our team ensures fast, hassle free installations.

Low impulse ventilation systems work by gently diffusing air through the permeable surface of a textile duct, allowing the supplied air to fill the occupied zone through natural thermal displacement.

Cool air is introduced close to the occupied area, where it spreads across the floor beneath the warmer room air above. As heat sources within the space generate natural convection, warmer and more polluted air rises, while cleaner, cooler air remains in the occupied zone. This creates a stable, stratified airflow pattern that supports both comfort and air quality.

To avoid cold downdrafts, supply air is delivered at low velocity and at a temperature only slightly below room conditions. This makes low impulse systems well suited for cooling applications or for distributing isothermal air, particularly in spaces where warm air naturally accumulates at ceiling level.

Low impulse textile ventilation is especially effective in high-ceiling environments with excess heat or airborne contaminants, helping move pollutants upward and away from occupants while maintaining comfortable conditions at floor level.

The Bingham Arena and Enterprise Centre opened its doors in February 2023, marking a major investment in community health and wellbeing in Nottinghamshire.

The £13 million facility includes a 25-metre, six-lane swimming pool, a teaching pool, fitness suite, studios, café, and a 300-capacity community hall. It is the first local venue capable of hosting competitive swimming galas, helping to support the development of qualified swim instructors and wider community participation.

Sustainability was a key driver throughout the project. Designed by a consortium including BSP Consulting, the building targets a 78 percent reduction in carbon emissions compared with other leisure centres in the borough. This is achieved through a combination of efficient construction materials, air source heat pumps, combined heat and power technology, water-saving measures, LED lighting, and rooftop photovoltaic panels.

KE Fibertec supported this vision by supplying Textile Based Ventilation for the gym and swimming pool areas. TBV delivers consistent air quality and thermal comfort while aligning with the centre’s Carbon Clever objectives. The engineering solution also addressed site-specific challenges, including a high water table and the integration of long glulam beams spanning the pool hall.

The result is a modern, high-performance leisure facility that serves its community while demonstrating what sustainable design can achieve.

Textile Based Ventilation (TBV) is changing how businesses approach air quality, sustainability, and cost efficiency.

With greater design flexibility and a measurable impact on environmental performance, TBV is increasingly being specified as a practical alternative to traditional metal ductwork. It offers engineers and project teams more control over air distribution, while supporting lower embodied carbon and simpler installation.

Our textile based ventilation systems are designed to be flexible, adaptable, and shaped around the space they serve, not the other way around.

Every project starts with a detailed assessment of how the building will be used, the required air volumes, and the desired indoor climate. This approach, known as Design The Way You Want, ensures air is distributed evenly and quietly, avoiding issues such as draughts, pulsation, or unwanted noise.

A key advantage of our systems is their modular design. Textile ducts are available in multiple shapes, including round, D-shaped, and ½D configurations, allowing them to fit seamlessly within a wide range of architectural layouts. Components such as bends, elbows, and conical transitions are designed as part of the system, ensuring consistent air distribution regardless of room geometry.

What sets the system apart is the use of zip connections between components. These allow ducts to be assembled efficiently on site, adjusted easily during installation, and reconfigured in the future if layouts change. This modular approach reduces installation time, lowers labour costs, and simplifies ongoing maintenance.

The result is a ventilation solution that is precise, adaptable, and future-ready, delivering reliable indoor air quality with long-term flexibility built in.

Alcon, a global leader in eye care, required a ventilation solution for its manufacturing facility in Ireland, where environmental control is critical to pharmaceutical production.

The challenge was achieving consistent, even airflow while tightly controlling temperature, humidity, and particle levels. Conventional ventilation systems risked drafts, uneven distribution, and higher maintenance, all of which can compromise clean manufacturing conditions.

KE Fibertec delivered a Textile Based Ventilation solution engineered specifically for cleanroom environments. Using non-shedding, anti-static, smooth-surfaced textiles, the system provides uniform, draft-free air distribution across the production area while minimising dust accumulation and simplifying maintenance.

The result is improved air quality control, lower energy demand, and a stable indoor environment that supports regulatory compliance and employee comfort, tailored precisely to the needs of the facility.

At KE Fibertec, we take full design responsibility for every Textile Based Ventilation (TBV) project we deliver.

From the very first conversation, we work closely with you to understand how the space will be used, the required air volumes, and how the system needs to look as well as perform. Every project is approached individually, ensuring the solution is engineered specifically for the building, not adapted from a generic standard.

Our in-house design team manages the entire engineering process, using advanced modelling tools to create bespoke textile duct systems that deliver even air distribution, high comfort levels, and energy-efficient performance, all while integrating seamlessly with the building’s architecture.

Design is only part of the story. We also control manufacturing, with textiles woven in our own weaving mill to strict quality standards. The result is a lightweight, durable system that is easier to install, easier to maintain, and designed with long-term sustainability in mind.

Installation is handled with the same level of care. Our experienced engineers ensure a smooth, efficient process, so the system performs exactly as intended from day one.

If you’re planning a project and want a ventilation system designed properly from the outset, we’re happy to help.

In high-demand refrigeration settings, efficient defrosting is crucial to maintain uninterrupted cooling and prevent excess energy use. KE Fibertec's Defrost Duct offers a specialised solution, reducing HVAC defrost times by up to 50%. This advanced duct system is designed to accumulate warm air around the frost-covered evaporator, creating an environment that promotes rapid defrosting. When the evaporator shifts to defrost mode, the Defrost Duct prevents heat from dissipating into the space, keeping it close to the frost layer. This allows for twice as fast defrosting, saving both time and energy.

Defrost Ducts are ideal for freezing boxes, such as those used for food cooling in restaurants, meat chilling in slaughterhouses, or fresh produce storage. Each duct incorporates three Velcro strips for swift collapse upon unit shutdown, helping retain warm air and accelerating the process. An airflow control cord further optimises performance by adjusting external pressure drop. For facilities needing frequent, fast, and energy-efficient defrosting, the Defrost Duct is an essential component in maximising refrigeration unit efficiency.
