How often should I get my chimney swept?

We get asked this a lot. Information varies, pending where you get it from.

We recommend at least once a year. If you use the stove a lot, twice a year. Thatched houses at least twice a year.

Burning dry wood and using the vents correctly will reduce pollution and soot build up.

I'd recommend a NVQ qualified sweep.

Stove Maintanence and checklist.🔥

1️⃣ Have your chimney swept at least once a year - the SIA recommends choosing an NVQ qualified sweep
2️⃣ Carry out a visual check of your stove when it is completely cool. Is the glass clean and free from cracks? Is the rope seal inside the door in good condition? Do the ash pan and grate show signs of wear?
3️⃣If any problems are detected, and you need parts, contact your local retailer or ourselves to arrange replacement parts

Out early again, to try and beat the heat but I think we lost. 28 deg at 1000!

We topped a chimney this morning, after a customer getting water ingress with heavy rain. We are not sure who left the top plate exposed but we have finished the job with a pot, cowl and flaunching.

Ready for winter.
