What is causing this?

The air vent is not open enough, restricting the fire of oxygen. The flame reduces and burns less oxygen. Once the flame has enough oxygen to relight, it flash ignites and burns more oxygen.

To prevent this, open the air vent just a little.

Using the air vents correctly will save you money and reduce pollution.

Now is a great time to have your liner swept, why?

Soot and ash are slightly acidic, especially if you have been burning smokeless coal.

Leaving soot and ash in a metal liner over the summer months will accelerate the rotting of the liner.

You would need a cowl to prevent any nesting over the spring. We can supply and fit them.

Only £57.50 for a sweep, service, smoke test and certificate (reduced to £50 for June, July and August).
