Evening folks realised I've not posted for a while so here's some pics from a couple of weeks back from two local jobs one in Chirnside the other in Burnmouth. Both involved the trapping (or attempted trapping of rats) using some new traps in a box from Roshield they are made in the UK the boxes from recycled car bumpers/dashboards. With the Chirnside job rats had been accessing a shed using a cavity between block wall of shed and original stone wall behind taking advantage of the gap at top left for ventilation. Got nothing in the traps on this occasion but on each visit there were no signs of new activity as all the best seeds/food source that had drawn them in had been eaten. Fitted rodent mesh over gap to stop further incursions, unfortunately forgot to take pics of this. In Burnmouth rats had been spotted in a chicken run on inspection identified a definite run and placed traps accordingly on the second visit had got one with nothing on subsequent visits but again no new activity. If you think you have a problem or may be at risk of future rodent issue get in touch, as they say prevention is better than cure.

Evening folks, as the weather stayed reasonable today finally put vinyl door stickers on the old Land rover bit of advertising and let's people know who I am and what I'm about when sometimes crawling about in the undergrowth. When I say stickers I did only manage to get one on, mucked up one on the first attempt so had to re-order from Fantasy Prints in Berwick who said it was no bother and would get it done as soon as they could, thanks guys. Also added the mole catchers guild logos and email decals I got a while back.

Evening all, today I signed up as a Support Member of the C.R.R.U, Campaign Responsible Rodenticide Use full details can be found at www.thinkwildlife.org Basically what it means is that myself like many other professionals have agreed to follow a code of good practice and use rodenticides responsibly. I will carry out risk assessment to avoid harm to non target species, recording what it used and location of bait stations (marked on map for larger sites), log sheet filled in every visit, also only using rodenticides when and where necessary for no longer than necessary. Any bodies removed and all uneaten bait removed at end of treatment. For continual contracts when uptake of rodenticide has ceased a non rodenticide bait is put down to monitor if rodents return.

Evening folks as of last week I became a member of The Guild of British Mole catchers. Essentially it was set up to ensure good/ethical practice and support traditional mole trapping. As the mole has no legislation regarding trapping and humane dispatch as guild members we sign up voluntarily to adhere to a code of good practice eg.. checking traps daily. Full details can be seen at www.molecatchersguild.co.uk and can give customers reassurance that the job is being done properly, also my contact details can be found there. Cheers for know
