We've been pushing for this to happen for years, way back over a decade ago we told DEFRA and others that change was needed to protect consumers and prevent waste (= needless environmental damage). Finally, something has happened to try to help people make appliances last longer.

Well done to the EU for this:

The rules will make household appliances longer-lasting and easier to fix.
