Bath Reseal – The Importance of Proper Preparation 🛁
Another bath resealed today, and this one was definitely overdue some attention.
The previous sealant had been applied incorrectly using a clear, non-mould-resistant silicone. Over time, moisture had got behind the sealant and it had turned completely black with mould.
I stripped all of the old silicone back, thoroughly cleaned the area and allowed everything to fully dry before applying a proper sanitary-grade, mould-resistant silicone designed for use in wet areas.
Good silicone work isn't just about running a bead around the bath — the preparation underneath is just as important. Removing every trace of the old sealant, cleaning the surfaces properly and ensuring they're completely dry gives the new silicone the best possible chance of forming a durable, watertight seal.
A much cleaner finish and, most importantly, a proper seal that's built to last. ✅
📍 Another job completed to the right standard.
