So I hear you say, just another page selling hand sanitiser gel trying to make a quick buck on the back of the covid-19 pandemic.
So let me explain a bit about me and why I've set this page up. Prior to the covid-19 pandemic I was self employed in the motor trade. I have been running my own business for 10+ years. I have a family and have recently become a Grand Dad for the first time, not a title I particularly wanted but I'm very happy and proud to have it bestowed upon me.
So when the government announced the "lockdown" my business stalled and eventually dried up. In an effort to continue to provide for my family I found work in a local factory making and supplying hand sanitiser gel, and if anyone is from the NHS you can go to the factory and collect a free bottle !!
So being self employed and not having any premises I'm not entitled to a grant. I'm not in a position to apply for loans to sustain my family and the government will eventually get around to assisting me in June but that is 2 months away and right now the government have bigger priorities. I had to do something and working in the factory was my best offer.
Since the pandemic the prices of raw materials for the sanitiser market have rocketed along with the cost of packaging etc as the world seeks to stop the spread of covid-19. In fact France who are one of the largest suppliers of isopropyl alcohol have stopped supplying the product outside of the country. Whenever there is short supply of an item the price increases, that's economics. Just look at current petrol prices and they are as low as they have been for years because they are still producing but demand has all but ceased. When the world starts turning again the prices will increase.
This is my story, I don't expect sympathy as there are others who will be suffering and much worse off than me, I'm only trying to do my best for my family. I'm not forcing anyone to buy from me and given some of the prices I have seen for this sort of product I am definitely not trying to "rip people off".
