This video shows wasps entering an air brick to access a cavity wall, where they’ve started building a nest. If you look closely, you can even see them carrying pieces of cavity wall insulation back out as they clear space for the nest to expand.

🐝 July Wasp Season Update 🐝

We're now entering one of the busiest periods of the wasp season. Colonies are growing rapidly, with many nests now reaching the size of footballs or even larger, and wasp activity is becoming much more noticeable around homes and gardens.

At this stage, you may see a steady stream of wasps flying to and from the same gap in your roofline, air brick, fascia boards, shed, loft or garden structure. This is often the clearest sign that a nest is well established.

As nests increase in size, wasps also become much more defensive if they feel threatened, so it's important not to block entrances or attempt to disturb the nest yourself.

If you've noticed increased wasp activity around your property, now is the time to get it checked before the colony reaches its peak size later in the summer.

🐝 We were recently called out to a wasp nest being built inside a boat at a children’s playground. Fortunately, the nest was discovered early and dealt with before it had the chance to grow further and become a risk to the children using the equipment.

Playgrounds, sheds, playhouses and other sheltered outdoor structures can all be attractive nesting spots for wasps. If you notice wasps regularly entering and leaving the same area, it’s always worth getting it checked.
