One of the biggest hurdles when decluttering is making decisions.

You pick something up and immediately start wondering: Do I need it? Do I use it? Should I keep it? What if I need it later?

And before you know it, you're mentally exhausted and haven't got very far.

So here's our advice: stop trying to make decisions about everything straight away.

Start by categorising.

If you're tackling a wardrobe, put all your tops together, then trousers, dresses, jumpers and so on.

If it's a kitchen, group similar items together. If it's paperwork, separate it into categories before you start working through it.

Putting like with like helps you see exactly what you have. You might spot duplicates, things you've forgotten about, or simply realise how much of one category you've accumulated.

And once everything is together, making decisions becomes much easier.

You don't have to work through the whole house. Start with one small category.

Sort first. Decide second.

It's a much less overwhelming way to begin. 🤍

How many sizes of children's clothes are currently hiding in your drawers? 😂

Children seem to grow out of things almost as soon as you've bought them.

One minute they're wearing it, the next it's too small. Then there are the clothes you've bought for the next size, things saved for a younger sibling, outfits for special occasions and all the bits you've been meaning to sort through.

Before long, the wardrobe and drawers are full, but half of it isn't even being worn.

And it's not always about having too many clothes. Sometimes it's just that life is busy, children grow quickly and keeping on top of it all is a job in itself.

A regular clothes reset can make a surprising difference.

Check the sizes, move on what no longer fits, put aside anything being kept for someone else and make the everyday clothes easy to find.

You might even discover you've got more space than you thought!

Now, be honest are you up to date with the children's clothes, or is there a drawer full of things waiting for a sort-out?

⚽💛💙 14 girls. One team. A big adventure ahead!

A little break from decluttering to share something close to our hearts.

Leithen Vale girls’ team, who will be the Under-12s next season, are heading to the Blackpool International Cup in May 2027!

These 14 girls come together from across the Scottish Borders and are a wonderful example of what grassroots sport can offer young people, friendship, confidence, teamwork and a real sense of belonging.

They’re also lucky to have some fantastic volunteer coaches who give up their time week after week, whatever the weather.

As a small local business, we know how important community support can be, and we’d love to help these girls make the most of this opportunity.

Doing what we love 🥰

Our job can be full of emotions. ❤️

We talk a lot about the grief, the overwhelm and the emotional weight that can come with decluttering. We see our fair share of tears along the way (sometimes our own).

But there’s another side to what we do, too.

There are funny stories, unexpected discoveries, things that make us laugh out loud and moments when we find ourselves doing something completely ridiculous.

Like posing with Harry Styles in a container yard. 😂

Every client, every home and every day is different. We never quite know what we’re going to find or where the day will take us.

We get to be there for people during some difficult and emotional times, but we also get to share the lighter moments along the way.

And honestly, it’s certainly never boring!
