There's more to a professional organiser than organising. šŸ¤

This KALLAX arrived yesterday.

Today, it was built and ready to become part of an organised storage system.

One thing people are often surprised to learn is that our job isn't just sorting through cupboards.

If building the storage helps the project move forward, we'll build it.

If furniture needs moving, we'll move it.

If labels need printing, we'll label them.

If donations need taking away, we'll do that too.

Our goal is simple: to remove as many barriers as possible so your home works better for you.

Sometimes that means decluttering.

Sometimes it means organising.

And sometimes it means getting the Allen keys out. šŸ”§

One of our favourite organising tips and it doesn't cost a penny. šŸ¤

Before you buy another storage box, have a look around your home.

This gift bag had seen better days, so instead of throwing it away, we gave it a second life.

By cutting down opposite corners to the depth of the drawer and folding the sides in, it becomes a surprisingly sturdy storage divider.

Here it's keeping tissue paper neatly organised alongside the wrapping paper, but you could use the same idea for craft supplies, colouring books, gift bags, paperwork or even kitchen drawers.

Sometimes the best organising solutions aren't the ones you buy, they're the ones you already have.

Little changes like this help keep things tidy, save money and make use of something that might otherwise have gone in the recycling.

šŸ’› Would you give this a try?

Where do your donations actually go? šŸ¤

It’s something we think about a lot.

When we’re helping clients declutter, we don’t want perfectly good belongings to simply become waste. Wherever we can, we try to find places where they’ll genuinely be useful.

One of the charities we’re very proud to support is Tweed Togs in the Scottish Borders.

They collect good-quality baby and children’s clothing, which their wonderful volunteers sort, prepare and turn into carefully considered clothing parcels for local children and families who need them.

And there is SO much work happening behind the scenes.

Their volunteers sort donations, manage stock, prepare parcels and even, despite it being July are already sorting the Christmas jumpers ready for the months ahead. šŸŽ„ā˜€ļø

We love knowing that some of the children’s clothing leaving our clients’ homes can go on to have another life and, more importantly, help another family.

Decluttering isn’t always about getting rid of things.

Sometimes it’s about passing them on. šŸ¤

So tonight we just wanted to give a little shout-out to the brilliant people at Tweed Togs and the work they’re doing for families across the Borders.

If you haven’t heard of them before, they’re well worth a follow and if you have good-quality children’s clothing to donate, take a look at what they’re currently accepting. šŸ’›

Tonight we had a house full of people coming for dinner.

There’s food to cook, a table to set, drinks to sort and approximately 400 things all needing done at the same time. šŸ˜‚

Entertaining is still work. Having an organised home doesn’t magically make dinner appear on the table.

But knowing exactly where the big serving dishes are?

Where the extra cutlery lives?

Where to grab more napkins when someone inevitably needs them?

That makes things easier.

Good organisation isn’t about having a home that looks perfect.

It’s about removing some of those tiny bits of friction from everyday life, so when things are busy, you’re not also rummaging through three cupboards looking for the bloody salad servers.

And hopefully, once everyone arrives, you can sit down, pour yourself something nice and actually enjoy the people you did all that work for. šŸ¤

That’s what an organised home should do support the life happening inside it.

One of my favourite parts of this job has very little to do with organising.

It's the stories.

The dress that was worn to a daughter's wedding.

The jumper bought on a special holiday.

The handbag that reminds someone of a much-loved friend.

The funny story about the shoes that were definitely not sensible... but made for an unforgettable night.

When people invite us into their homes, they're often inviting us into their memories too.

Every object has the potential to tell a story, and it's a privilege to be trusted with those moments.

Yes, we help people declutter.

Yes, we create organised spaces.

But we also get to listen, laugh, reflect and sometimes even shed a tear alongside our clients.

It's one of the reasons I love what I do so much.

Thank you to every client who has shared a little piece of their life with us. We never take that trust for granted. šŸ¤

✨ We have some very exciting news to share...

We have been selected to deliver the Calm Home Support Programme, and we honestly couldn't be more grateful.

Thanks to funding from Scottish Ministers through the Borders Local Action Group (LAG), administered by Scottish Borders Council, we'll be able to provide completely free, hands-on decluttering and home organising support to 10 households across Peebles and the Scottish Borders.

Being trusted with this funding is a real honour. We know how much a home can affect your wellbeing, and being able to support people who might not otherwise be able to access our services means the world to us.

If you, or someone you support, could benefit from a calmer, more manageable home, all the information about who is eligible and how referrals work is now on our website.

Thank you to everyone who has believed in what we do. We can't wait to get started. šŸ’›
