As part of Godmanchester Green Week, we will be collecting donations for Godmanchester Foodbank at both the Town Hall and Godmanchester Community Plant Nursery & Cafe

If you would like to support this valuable local initiative, donations can be dropped off at:

Tuesday–Saturday, 10:00am–3:00pm

Every donation matters and helps support local individuals and families in need.

🌿 Godmanchester Green Week Photography Competition 🌿

As part of Godmanchester Green Week, we're excited to launch our Insect Photography Competition!

We'd love to see your best bug photographs for a chance to win one of the fantastic prizes pictured below.

Prizes will be awarded for the best photo in the following age categories:

🐞 Children aged 0–6
Prize: First Book of Garden Bugs

🦋 Children aged 7–11
Prize: Out and About Minibeast Explorer Book

🪲 Young People aged 12–16
Prize: Encyclopedia of Insects

🐝 Adults
Prize: Bee and Bug Hotel

📸 Overall Winner
One overall winner will be selected from all entries, and their photograph will be proudly displayed in Godmanchester Town Hall.

We are pleased to announce the successful first meeting of the new Community Benefit Fund, marking an important step in supporting local initiatives and strengthening our community.

At this inaugural meeting, grants were awarded to two valued local organisations:

Godmanchester Town Show awarded £355 towards to cost of a new marquee

Godmanchester Community Association awarded £4776 to cover staging and PA equipment for Gala Weekend

These awards recognise the vital role both groups play in bringing people together, enhancing community life and supporting local events and activities.

“We are delighted to support organisations that play such an important part in our community. The Community Benefit Fund is here to help initiatives thrive, and this is just the beginning of what we hope to achieve,” said Cllr Susan Lawson - Chair of Community Benefit Fund.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact these grants will have and to continuing to support further projects in the future.

We’re looking forward to welcoming Pinpoint Cambridgeshire and Farm Club UK to our SEN Family Day on the 20th of June, where they’ll be hosting some informative and engaging talks.

We’re also excited to have Just Karen joining us to lead two family Makaton Storytime sessions, which are always a fantastic way to bring stories to life in an inclusive and interactive way.

We can’t wait to see everyone there for what promises to be a wonderful day for families!

Mayor Debbie Mickelburgh attended The Island Hall National Open Gardens, where she enjoyed a sunny day alongside the many visitors who came to explore the beautiful grounds and enjoy cream teas. During her visit, she was given a personal tour of “Grandad’s Vegetable Garden” by Cllr Vane Percy (Christopher) and his granddaughter. The Mayor also had her portrait drawn by Adrainne, with proceeds from the drawings supporting the charity. The event was well attended and provided a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and appreciate the gardens.
