Check your drainage, if you have gravel like this then you have problems.This is rats digging their way under your home and eventually make their way into your loft space.This is ideal for them nesting, insulatated, dark, warm and safe.They then make their way back down the sewer to “feed” then back up to your comfy loft.

How To Get Rid Of Drain flies:

Drain flies are always a hygiene issue (don’t panic we all get this) the problem almost always comes from ? You guessed it, Your Drains.

In particular it’s from the biofilm that has built up in your drain pipe.

This is a natural habitat and breeding ground for drain flies.

The easiest way to resolve this is to clean out your drain pipes connected to your sink and the best method to do this is by disconnecting your pipes from the u-bend.

I know to some this may seem intimidating but the process is really straight forward.

Once the pipes are removed from the u-bend simply clean them down with boiling soapy water and remove the thick gunk built up over time.

Once this is removed the drain flies will die out.
Set a few sticky traps around to kill of any stragglers still about and your good to go.

Now in future to prevent this make sure you clean your drains at least once a week with boiling soapy water and use some form of rain cleaner to ensure no more build up on the pipes (you do not need to disconnect the pipes for this simply flush it down your sink)
