Bleach and strong chemicals can remove or permanently change the carpet dye. In some cases, they can also damage the fibre itself. Colour can often be reintroduced, but the final result depends on how deeply the original colour has been removed and whether the fibre remains stable.

If the fibre has been weakened, burnt, hardened, or chemically distorted, colour repair may improve the appearance but cannot fully rebuild the damaged fibre.

If this happens, we will assess whether it is a cleaning, contamination, odour, or colour issue. Further treatment may be possible, but it may require a separate visit or a different process.

What happens if all stains cannot be restored in one visit?

If all marks cannot be fully restored during the appointment, our technician will explain what has been achieved and what options remain.

Depending on the result, we may recommend one of the following:

1. No further work required

If the result is already strong and the remaining marks are minor or unlikely to improve much further, we may advise that no further treatment is worthwhile.

2. Additional touch-up visit

Some colour repairs benefit from a second visit after the first application has fully settled and dried. This allows us to review the repaired areas in normal lighting and make further colour adjustments if needed.

3. Further specialist restoration

If the carpet has complex colour damage, multiple tones, large areas of dye loss, or previous chemical damage, additional specialist work may be possible. This would be discussed separately before proceeding.

4. Repair not recommended further

In some cases, further work may not be sensible because the carpet fibre is too damaged, the colour cannot be safely matched any closer, or the repair would no longer be cost-effective.

5. Alternative options

Where colour repair is not enough, we may advise alternative solutions such as patch repair, carpet section replacement, furniture positioning, rug placement, or full carpet replacement if this is the most practical option.
