Over the years we have spoken a lot about the importance of buying British, but we like to take it one step further. At present, we are purchasing our timber from a local estate just 2.5 miles away!

Being able to regularly visit, gives us a clear view of how the trees are managed and the care being taken to ensure long term sustainability, which is something you just don't get when timber travels accross the country (or world). 🗺

The forestry team is currently removing dead and dying ash affected by ash dieback. 🪾 By using this otherwise wasted timber, we help keep the woodland healthy, whilst making the most of a valuable resource. 🌳

The right wood fuel makes all the difference.

🌿 Always choose Ready to Burn certified logs when buying fuel.
🪵If seasoning yourself, ensure logs are at 20% or less moisture content before burning.
🔥 You’ll get more heat from less wood.
💨 It reduces smoke & particulate matter emissions (compared to wet and poor quality wood fuel).
📖 Always check your stove manufacturer’s fuel recommendations.

Correct fuel = better performance, lower costs, safer burning.

We always aim to operate responsibly and make a positive impact.

Here are some ways in which we try to make a difference:

🇬🇧 Only British wood is used to make our logs and kindling, minimising our carbon footprint

♻️ All timber comes from sustainably managed woodlands, promoting growth and biodiversity

🪵 Kiln drying means the logs burn most efficiently, reducing smoke and emissions

🌳 We only use hardwoods, rather than softwoods for longer lasting fires, reducing log consumption

⚡️Our kilns are powered by woodchip - a natural byproduct!

We are looking for a Maintenance Worker, to help get our machines ready for use each day.

The job would be 2 - 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday. Would suit someone looking to cut back hours, or semi retired etc...

These hours could either be worked 4am - 7am OR 4.30pm to 7.30pm (depending on whether you’re a morning person or evening!!)

The role will include:

Maintaining our firewood processors
Daily cleaning and greasing of the machines
Daily fitting of sharpened chainsaw chains
Weekly vehicle checks
Full training will be given, as well as all necessary PPE.

Having a Forklift license would be a bonus.

We are looking for a Log Packer!

Are you looking for a flexible Job to work around school hours etc?

Due to high demand Walker's Logs are looking for a firewood packer to work alongside our Head packer.
The role will include:
Packing firewood into bags
Packing kindling
Helping maintain a tidy workplace

No prior experience is required for this role, just a hardworking, friendly attitude willing to carry out a physically demanding and repetitive role. Full training will be given, as well as all necessary PPE.

You must have transport to get to our site GL54 4DL (just outside Compton Abdale) Public transport is NOT available, due to our location.

We are happy to be flexible on the hours, provided you can commit to a minimum 27.5 hours per week. These hours need to be completed between Mon - Fri 7am - 5.30pm.
For example you could work Mon - Fri 9am - 3pm.
Hourly wage £11.50 per hour.
