Another tool in the war against bedbugs. Our latest addition is The Cimex Eradicator.
This provides a 200°c jet of superheated dry steam that we can use directly on bedframes and mattresses to kill Bedbugs and their eggs!

Bed Bugs are blood sucking insects that infest homes and come out at night in search of a meal. They are not known to spread disease however some people can react badly once bitten and the physiological stress can be huge. Once an infestation takes hold they can be extremely hard to eradicate from your home so its important to act fast once you realise you have a problem.

Signs of Bed Bugs:

1). Small brownish bugs and/or white eggs in the crevices and joints of your mattress and furniture.
2). Bites on your body (often in lines).
3). Black “ink like” spots on your mattress (likely to be bed bug poo).
4). Shedded bed bug shells (as the bugs grow they shed their old skins).
5). Blood spots on your bedding (these can occur if you squash a bug after it has fed).
6). A unique smell (in heavy infestations the pheromone bed bugs produce can be smelt).

Despite the name ‘bed bugs’ you will find them in various areas of the property.

This time found in the hem of the curtains in forms of eggs and excreted blood spots.

Adult Bed bugs resemble a small brown disc (lady bird shape) measuring up to 6mm in length. It is wingless but the legs are well developed and it can crawl up most vertical surfaces. Their elongated eggs are cemented in cracks or crevices close to the hosts (which for Bed bugs are humans). The early stages of the Bed bug (nymphs) are tiny making them hard to detect with the naked eye and are pale until blood feed.

Characteristics
Bed bugs can usually be introduced to your property as they attach to luggage, bags and clothing. Bed bugs may also be introduced through second-hand beds, furniture and possessions.

Habitat
Mainly active at night Bed bugs hide in crevices in the bed, surrounding furniture, and also behind skirting boards, under loose wall-paper, behind pictures and even in plug sockets to name a few.

Diet
Bed bugs need to feed on the blood of a human host. However in some cases they can survive up to 9 months without feeding.
