Pointing ridge tiles involves applying fresh mortar or flexible compound to the edges of ridge tiles to secure them and seal the roof apex against water and wind damage.

This is not only a vital maintenance step for ensuring structural integrity, but also serves to preventing leaks, and securing tiles, usually necessary when existing mortar cracks or erodes due to wind and age of the motar.

Here you can see the old mortar removed, then reseting the ridge tiles, and after using a 3:1 sand-cement ratio with bonding agents, sealed the ridges, hopefully giving 5-10 years protection for the customer ✔️

Local winds produced problems with the cowl coming loose because of age so a quick fix to retain the top again and future proof it by removing all old attachments and adding screws for stability.

Then we got to work bringing the white gutters back to life, using a safer water/vinegar mix to release heavy staining, we sprayed the gutters and then scrubbed them to help remove the dirt, followed by a thorough pressure wash 🧽

One of our valued customers wanted his fencing spruced up after years of weather stripping the paint so we got to work removing the fencing as this ensures a clean job and sanding the wood down for any imperfections before applying the first coat of paint!

We then painted a second coat and left it to dry to ensure no bits were missed before treating it with a wood sealer to prolong the life of the paint and wood 🪵

Another job done, another happy customer 👍

Gutter cleaning isn’t the first of home maintenance jobs once the winter is over but it’s an important one as blocked or poorly flowing gutters can lead to a range of bigger problems for your home!

Ideally, you should clean your gutters twice a year to make sure they're fully functional all year round. By tending to your gutters every six months you'll avoid any troublesome build-up of leaves and debris, which will help avoid any consequent damage caused by blocked gutters.

The best times of year to clean your gutter are in the spring and autumn, though it will depend on a number of factors, including the weather and your property’s proximity to trees, bushes and hedges.
If your home is surrounded by large mature trees and hedges nearby, then chances are that leaves, branches and other debris are going to collect in your gutters – especially after dry periods and during the winter when the trees lose their leaves.

On the other hand, if you live in a new housing development with few or no fully grown trees then you could probably get by on a single annual gutter cleaning.

We check all gutters we clear for frost damage, leaking and cracks for peace of mind 🍃

Finishing the week on a high with this transformation, full driveway pressure washed clean then filled with Silka fast fix joint mix.

Customer said the cobbles were getting sloppy when wet and sick of seeing all the weeds and dirt, we set to work clearing all the soil, weeds and debris from between the limestone cobbles, then got to work bagging all the excess off before a decent rinse!

Then we added driveway cleaner and left for half an hour before rinsing the whole area off again for the joint mix to be applied.

After brushing the mixture in between the cracks we wet the solution and left to dry after removing the excess! Another happy customer 🫡

It’s been a lovely day weather wise today ☀️

So we got round to painting fence panels for our customer who asked if we could spruce up the paint on their existing panels and clean the existing marks off from the last painters mistakes on the pillars.

Lots of gutters today, this time of the year we revisit people we helped last year and check if the harsh Cumbrian winter has done any damage and also to clean the gutters out 🍂

We took the price further down for repeat customers and added some neighbours to the list 🫡

Send a message to the page or number to get booked in, if we find your gutters empty we will tell you so

Some lovely sunshine hitting Cumbria today ☀️

Customer wanted the porcelain flags pressure washed then re pointed with fresh jointing compound!

Got to work cleaning and treating the area, then let the whole area dry properly before adding the jointing compound, brushing it into every last gap, before wetting the mixture to then start setting.

The old way would have been silica sand followed by a sealer over the top, this was the original method for years and years but now the new mixture already has the glue particles in the sand so once wet it hardens not only from the top, but the bottom and middle at the same time - longer lasting and more firm!

To get booked in and get your garden up to scratch, to enjoy the sunshine on route, message the page or the number above
