Rnet Recycling Bin Covers

Rnet Recycling Bin Covers Rnet Recycling Bin Cover-keeping R streets clean! Noreen Kelley Riordan has created Rnet after experiencing too much litter in her neighborhood.

Maureen Kellar, Creative Director, TJ Sorbera, Design Assitance, Shawn Kelley, Production Coordinator. The recycling bin cover is made of sturdy mesh hemmed by an elastic band that fits securely around the lip of an open-topped recycling bin. Waste haulers can easily remove the cover to empty the bin. The cover is secured to the bin by the storage pocket, which attaches using an adhesive hook and

loop closure. The mesh fabric does not retain moisture and the entire apparatus is easily removed for hand washing. In the last year I’ve produced several covers and distributed them to friends and neighbors to see how the product works. So far, the reaction has been amazing. We were also able to get the waste haulers’ reactions to the product. They said: ‘Great idea! This will especially help with keeping newspapers off the street. It’s easy to use and doesn’t slow us down.’ Feedback from my original design led me to simplify the cover’s attachment to the recycling bins; where I once used screws to secure the cover to the bin, I now use Velcro.

A recent visit to Watkins Glen State Park found some recyclable litter floating around in the gorge. C'mon people.....take it home and recycle it!

I'd bet some of that trash is from recycling bins!

It looks like a cross between an old grain mill, a covered wagon and a spaceship: a giant, solar-powered wheel that sucks in bags, bottles and other detritus from Baltimore's Inner Harbor.

Is it important to you that events you attend offer recycling? The first place I ever saw this was the Grassroots Festival in Ithaca where even the food waste was recycled. Greentopia Festival implemented this as well the past two years. Here is a survey for you to complete to let your opinion count.

Please consider taking this short online survey if you are a planner of local events or if you attend events in the Rochester, NY Region.
