Orbis Environmental and Safety Consulting is leading provider of specialist Health & Safety and Environmental consultancy services, offering support and advice to businesses throughout the UK.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Consultant to join our growing consultancy team.
Ideally the successful applicant will be based in the South-west, however the position can be home / field based for the right candidate with a willingness to travel frequently (approx. 2-3 days per week). As such, location can be flexible.
NOTE – Travel is a key part of this role and although it can be flexible to suit lifestyles, it is a key essential part of the role.
This position will involve supporting our clients with expert and proactive advice, building a partnership style approach to establish a strong culture of safety, health, and environmental management - doing as much or as is little required by the client. As such a flexible approach to complete hands-on work as well as strategic planning work is required.
Although not mandatory, candidates with qualifications and experience in the field of DSEAR will be preferred.
The work is varied, from developing procedures, policies and management systems to on-site audit, inspections, and gap analysis assessments.
The ideal candidate will have the following in terms of qualifications and experience:
• Hold a recognised Health and Safety qualification at certificate level and holding or working towards diploma level qualifications (NCRQ, NEBOSH, NVQ6)
• Have demonstrable experience of writing, developing, and implementing management systems including ISO 45001, ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001.
• Experience of Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Safe Systems of Work to a very high standard that would pass the scrutiny of HSE inspectors.
• Able to carry out audits, inspections, and assessments.
• Knowledge of UK legislation and regulations in Environmental and Health & Safety
• A professional and consultative approach to your work, with the ability to be flexible to suit our clients’ capabilities and resources.
• Experience within Manufacturing, Care, Retail, Housing and Engineering industries
• Understanding of CDM and Management of Contractors and PQQ
