It was a blowy start for our Walking Blossoms on Saturday as they set off from St Peter’s Basin along Hadrian’s Way.
The walk took them along the riverside towards Walker, passing the former St Anthony’s Lead Works, a major 19th-century industrial factory which employed around 150 people at its peak production.
They stopped for some well-earned refreshments at Crockets Hotel before heading back to St Peter’s Basin, followed by a very nice lunch at The Merchants Tavern 😋

🚶‍♀️ 5 miles walked
👣 12,000 steps
💨 A little blustery!
😂 Lots of laughs
💬 Plenty of good conversation
❤️ And, as always, lovely company

It was a great way to spend a Saturday. Our Blossoms are never short of good conversation and laughs along the way!
Well done to everyone who joined the walk, and to our Vice President Ros for organising the event.

I wonder where the next one will take them ?

July’s Supper & Social was hosted by our member Kay, who chose the theme 'Red' 🔴 for the evening.

Lots of delicious red food including red onion quiche, gazpacho, beetroot and feta salad, strawberry pavlova , red pepper hummus and red fruit sponge flan.🍓🍅🍤🍫🍣🥫🍒
Several of us decided to dress in red too to keep in theme .

The alleged ‘easy’ RED quiz complied by Kay was actually a quite a challenge! But congratulations to Lynne and Sandra for winning……………a bunch of RED roses each 🌹🌹

A fabulous night of fun, friendship & sharing supper, and thanks of course to Kay for making us feel very welcome in her gorgeous home ☺️

Virtual WIs - The Federation are looking to start a virtual WI next year - why not have a browse and see what they are all about.

Virtual Women’s Institutes (WIs) allow women to connect via Zoom or online platforms, making meetings accessible for those with mobility issues, caring responsibilities, or busy schedules. Membership provides access to the WI's educational platform, national campaigns, and interest groups (like book clubs or craft chats).

Because they meet online, you can join a virtual WI located anywhere, or even sign up as a dual member alongside your local in-person group

Looking for a WI that you can join from the comfort of your own home? Look no further!

Here is a list of our virtual WIs:

Blooming Zoomers

Cheshire virtual Wheatsheaves

CyberCats Virtual

Darwin Daisies

East Yorkshire Roses

Filoxenia

Hampshire Clouds

Ladies Who Lunch

Manx Valkyries Virtual

Sassy Lassies Virtual

Severn Sisters Virtual

Skylarks WI Virtual

If you're enthusiastic, organised and keen to get involved, we'd love to hear from you. Why not contact Elaine for an informal chat or pop into the office to find out more? We would love to speak to you.

Please note this is a voluntary role

It was ‘anchors aweigh’ for 19 of us Blossoms on Saturday afternoon as we boarded the Teesside Princess for a 3hr round cruise, sailing from Stockton-on-Tees past historic Preston Park & on to Yarm before our return ⛴️
The weather was glorious, & we were able to sit on deck watching the world go by.

We enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea whilst cruising along & were also entertained by a local singer/guitarist. With the bar open too, the afternoon flew by 🥂🍷🍹

It was lovely to see so many people enjoying the riverside, with plenty of friendly waves exchanged along the way. 👋

A fabulous way to spend a summer’s afternoon with great people.

Thanks must go to our Vice President Ros from organising this trip, and to all our members for making it such a memorable day. We’re looking forward to the next one - wherever that may take us ☺️

Our Books and Banter club met last night and was very well attended.

Lots of ladies had started this month's book, "The Trial," by Rob Rinder. Some people gave up, some persevered. Dianne, our resident sleuth 🕵️ told everyone about the other books in the series which follow the main character's law career.

Next month's book is, "Margot's Got Money," by Rufi Thorpe which is a comedy.

September's book is Graham Norton's,
"Home Stretch." We certainly read a variety of texts!

As usual there was lots of book related chat. We also got a glimpse into our resident author's take on the book writing process. AnneMarie said that giving a book to an editor was like sending a child off to school....quite daunting!

The evening was full of laughs and banter. Happy Summer reading ladies😊 📚

*thanks to Jen for this months write up
