🧽🫧 Let me be real for a sec and have talk about dish sponges…
Your kitchen sponge is a microbial monster, it can harbour more germs than your toilet bowl if not cared for properly!
And no, microwaving it doesn’t help🤦♀️
This is caused because they are wet, porous and trap food particles. They provide an ideal breeding ground for microbes like Salmonella and E. coli.
Here are some tips to stop that from happening!✍️
To slow bacterial growth between uses, always rinse the sponge, squeeze out excess moisture and store it in a dry, well ventilated area rather than inside the sink or in a damp caddy.
Replace after a month or when you notice it has developed a sour/foul odour or feels slimy to the touch. Or starts tearing, shedding pieces and trapping food in holes.
A sponge won’t stay germ free forever, so replacing it regularly is one of the best ways to keep your kitchen hygienic. ✨
