🔥 Another successful stove transformation completed in Ashbourne! 🔥

Josh and Terry recently carried out a full stove replacement and chimney reline for a customer in Ashbourne, giving their fireplace a new lease of life.

The old Tiger stove was carefully removed and replaced with a stylish Archer Challenger stove, providing improved efficiency, better heat output, and a fresh new look. As part of the installation, the team also fitted a brand-new flexible flue liner and replaced the old chimney cowls with new, high-quality cowls to help protect the chimney from rain, birds, and debris while ensuring the flue operates safely and efficiently.

The result? A warmer, more efficient home and a stove that's ready to provide reliable heat for many years to come. 🔥

We were asked to look at a chimney stack that was causing some nasty damp in two bedrooms of a property! We were initially going to re-render and re-cap; however, we found the bricks under the render badly spalled. So, we took the decision to rebuild! We cleared wet rubble from the base of the stack, rebuilt it and then rendered. A fine job done (even if we say so ourselves). 😊👌

When booking a sweep, you need to ensure that the person carrying out the work has the right experience and qualifications. AS Chimney Sweeps are professional sweeps that have undergone training and assessment to ensure that we are complying with the current safety standards.

A.S. Chimneys are members of the Association of Professional Independent Chimney Sweeps, and we are a HETAS registered company.

We are stove installers and are also proud members of the Stove Industry Association. SIA's work is focused on promoting the benefits of modern, sustainable solid fuel stoves and representing the industry to policymakers.

We are also members of the Derbyshire Trusted Trader scheme, plus all our sweeps are NVQ qualified—this means that your chimney will be cleaned by a qualified, experienced sweep who understands how chimneys work and how appliances of all types should be properly and safely fitted. This is becoming ever more important with newer Eco Design Ready stoves and the importance of keeping harmful emissions in smoke to a minimum following the introduction of the Clean Air Act 2022.

We're fortunate to be entrusted with chimney sweeping work in some of Derbyshire's most beautiful historic properties, including the National Trust's Sudbury Hall.

On our last visit, we swept and carried out CCTV inspections on two chimneys in the main house. Part of the challenge was identifying which fireplace connected to which flue within the chimney stack—a task that requires both experience and careful investigation.

With the chimney stack towering high above the roof, it wasn't practical to inspect the top in the traditional way, so we deployed our drone to get a clear view from above.

Working on historic buildings like these is always a privilege, combining traditional chimney sweeping skills with modern technology to help care for some of Derbyshire's finest heritage properties.

We were called out to sweep this chimney ahead of a house sale and quickly discovered it was in a poor and potentially unsafe condition.

🤔 After assessing the stack, Mick agreed that the best long-term solution was to dismantle it and rebuild it properly, rather than carry out temporary repairs.

Over the next few days, the old chimney stack was carefully taken down and rebuilt to a much higher standard, making it safe, secure, and ready for many years to come.

To finish the job, a new chimney pot and a bird guard cowl were installed, helping to protect the flue from birds and debris while keeping everything working as it should. 👌
