I’ve warned people (sooo many times now) that when it comes to including absolutes in their vows, like “always”, they need to be super careful…but here’s how it COULD be used well:
✅ if it comes with a disclaimer
✅ when it’s also an intentional commitment you WANT to be held accountable to
✅ if you already have a pattern of doing that thing in your relationship
✅ when it’s a part of a saying you have or an inside joke
✅ if it’s more than just poetic and leaves room for humanity/imperfection (this example in particular just hit me today and I love that it insinuates that .snider deserves so much gratitude, even if I don’t recognize it in the moment or express it right away)

Some highlights from last month’s date nights: A game where we listened to the new album , chose our favourite song and had to buy something from that made us think of a specific lyric. It only took each of us two tries to guess correctly 💁🏽‍♀️ we obviously celebrated by sharing our delicious choices 👌🏽 for the best we’ve had in ages installing a sound system in our new home gym and listening to with and while we painted together 😍

This piece from .too.shabbi is a daily reminder that we’ve come a long way and still have a long way to go.

In our second year of marriage, Mitchell and I spent over 365 days saying what most people would call : “I am loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, good, faithful, gentle and self-disciplined”.

When you get into a relationship, remember your goals as individuals AND the joint identity you want as couple. How do you want people to feel when they’re around you (on your own and together)? What do you want your family to learn with/from you?

What reminds you of your wedding day?
Or if you’re not married, what around your house reminds you of the people/person you love most in the world?

This is the arrangement made for our arbour (which Mitchell designed and built from scratch). I love seeing it on top of our piano as a reminder of that dreamy day.

Also pumped for you to turn my bouquet into earrings I can wear to work everyday 🫢

You’re sitting around a campfire and the ink to yourself “I could marry this girl” or “he’s so dang beautiful in this light”…write it down. Worst case scenario, you delete the note 🤷🏽‍♀️

Best case scenario, you remember exactly how you felt (but multiplied by 200) when you wrote about that thing they do, those words they said, those 🦋s you felt, etc. and write the best marriage vows!
