I'm enquiring about some much needed repair work for an old teddy bear. It is over 60 years old and belongs to my wife which she has had since new. I'm forwarding some pictures of it's current condition but I'm afraid I don't have an original picture! It needs it's pads replaced, some re-stitching and an ear reattached. its neck is wobbly too. It also needs a clean and fluff if that's possible. Could you please review the pictures and let me know what you think is required and a rough estimate for the cost of repairs. Thank you, Rick

Hi Rick, Your teddy needs a spa treatment & grooming, new paw pads, ear attached & more stuffing. I’ll check the joints to see if they’re stable.

Hi Rick, I’m just removing the paw pads. I don’t know why his hand paws were covered. His fur is in great shape. Ask your wife if she wants to leave them off or put new paw pads on them.

My name is Justine. I have a medium-sized (a little bigger than a small foam dodgeball) plushie that requires stain removal. It isn’t too bad, just a small ink stain that I am unable to remove, and I believe I accidentally got yogurt on it once before as well, though I quickly wiped it off. Normally, I would just leave the stain, but it is right on the face, which does bother me a little.

The plushie is relatively new, but it never came with any washing instructions. This is the only plushie I have ever had that has such a nice feel and “squish” to it, which is why I am worried I might ruin it by throwing it in the washing machine. I have attached a picture below. I was wondering if you might be able to take my plushie in for a cleaning and light rejuvenation?

I was very excited to come across your website based on an idea my mom had. My husband and I lost our son (Spencer) to a late term miscarriage in 2022. After he was cremated, we put a small glass vial of his remains into a build a bear. Spencer Bear has been the recipient of an enormous amount of love, but also lots of tears and snuggles. He has travelled all over the world with us. He is in desperate need of a spa treatment, but we are too scared to clean him ourselves. He also has a build a bear heart inside.

He could also benefit from some fluff grafts. I know it’s not possible to make him look brand new, and we’ve discussed the idea of getting a new bear, but the idea of opening up this bear and taking out his ashes is too overwhelming. I am hoping you can help! Thank you, Julianna

Hi Julianna, I can give Spencer Bear a spa treatment & grooming. I would remove the vial before the treatment. I think the grooming will clear up the areas that seem to need fluff.

I’m looking to get some help for my stuffed penguin. He is a Miniso Penguin that measures about 20 inches by 12 inches and 7 inches in depth.

I am hoping to get him restuffed and cleaned because I cannot get this mildew smell out. He has some burn marks from the dryer on his fur, these can be left as is (unless you have a recommendation to make them a bit less visible). Emma Sue

I am hoping that you’ll be able to help me. I have a 33 year old teddy bear that’s in very poor shape due to the age. There are no rips or obvious tears but the fabrics and filling is in poor shape.

I am hoping that you may be able to suggest some fixes in order to ensure that it can last a while longer and not continue to disintegrate.

That’s great to hear! Is there anything you recommend for preservation once it’s tidied up?

Keep him out of the sun, vacuum and/or comb out the dust. Your panda is full of crumbling styrofoam. That’s why he’s feels funny when you squeeze him & why he slumps over. I need to remove all those styrofoam pellets & large pieces & refill him with fibrefill.

This is Morris the Action Bear. He was a gift to my mom Trish (me) on my 17th birthday, July 8, 1986 from my godmother.

He has:
Traveled Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Costa Rica, Nunavut, across Canada, California, Hawaii, Florida.
He has been in a race boat, a race car, a race bike, a helicopter, ferries.
He has survived 5 dogs, until dog 6 - Murphy.
He lost his first eye with Murphy in 2021. He lost his second eye, last week, also Murphy.
I am now turning 57 years old this July. I still sleep with Morris, travel with Morris, he is my best friend. I am hoping that even though I am an adult, you can repair him. I have his eyes still. He also has a tiny hole under his chin.
Please let me know. I am in Calgary, Ab.

I am hoping to send my little Lamby for some rejuvenation. He has been my companion for almost 20 years. I knit him a little yellow sweater 6 years ago that he insists on wearing now (hence why his original ribbon is so wrinkled and scrunched up) but I took it off to better show all the areas he needs fur grafts.

The list of repairs is:
- fur grafts for worn away/stretched out skin areas all over his body, but definitely on his ears, tail, thighs, right shoulder, chest.
- small hole on his left arm close to the hoof
- small pink threads on his hooves to look like two toes have disintegrated/fallen off. The only intact one is on his left arm, but they used to be on all his feet.
- his nose is very chipped. It used to be intact and lightly fuzzy. I'm not sure if this can be fixed and it is not a high priority to me.
- no need for extra stuffing or extra beans, Lamby's floppiness is core to his personality.

Lamby is very appearance-conscious and has been looking forward to coming to the Teddy Bear hospital for years, so I'm sure he will be an appreciative and cooperative patient! Please let me know if I can bring him for an appointment. Thank you Reana
