Dear Friends,

With the snow falling this holiday morning, I wanted to take a moment to reach out and say thank you. Over the past year, whether we worked together on a job, supplied materials, lent a hand, or simply crossed paths and talked about future plans, your support and trust have meant more to me than you might know.

This year had its challenges, but it was also filled with honest work, good people, and the kind of connections that make this community what it is. I’m grateful for every project, every conversation, and every opportunity to do work I’m proud of.

As we head into the new year, I look forward to continuing to work with familiar faces and welcoming new ones, and to taking on whatever the months ahead may bring.

However you spend this time of year, I hope the holiday season gives you a chance to slow down, enjoy time with family and friends, and start the new year feeling rested and hopeful.

🦺 Hard Hat Safety: Do You Know What You’re Wearing? 👷‍♀️

We recently came across someone who mistook the manufacture date on their hard hat for the expiry date—and it got us thinking. A lot of people don’t realize that hard hats don’t come with expiry dates, but they do have a lifespan.

Here’s what you need to know:

Your hard hat must be Type 2, Class E, CSA Z94.1-15 (or newer) to meet WorkSafeNB standards

The clock stamps inside show the month and year it was made—not when it expires

Shells should be replaced every 3–5 years, suspensions every 12 months

If you’ve been hit in the head or dropped your hat from height—replace it immediately, even if there’s no visible damage

And check the date before you buy—some “new” hats have been on the shelf for years

🇨🇦🐾 Happy Canada Day from Maxine! 🐾🇨🇦

Hi friends, it's Maxine—your favourite four-legged crew member and Director of Pawsitivity sharing adventures from St. Andrews by-the-Sea!

This was my very first Canada Day, and I spent it doing what I do best: sniffing, exploring, and learning about all the seawalls Dad has built around town (turns out he's kind of a big deal).

From The Point to Pendlebury Lighthouse, I took in all the sights, smells, and friendly faces—including a nice lady who said I was very well-behaved for such a young pup. I wore my red-and-white maple leaf bandana proudly, made new friends, almost got a sniff of pizza, and wrapped it all up with the best nap ever.

🐾 Meet Maxine – Our Director of Pawsitivity! 🐾

We've got paw-sitively exciting news… There's a new face at Peter K. Gowan Construction Ltd., and she's already stealing hearts (and maybe a few work boots).

Say hello to Maxine, our 8-week-old Labrador Retriever pup—and the newest, furriest member of the crew! 💛

Max is more than just a cute face. She's our unofficial office greeter, morale booster, and proud holder of the title Director of Pawsitivity. Whether she's riding shotgun with Peter, napping under a desk, or offering her "supervision" at a job site, Max brings joy, tail wags, and a reminder to appreciate the little things—like puppy kisses and muddy paw prints. 🐶

When she's off duty? She's a beachcomber, gardener, and chew toy connoisseur. Max may be little, but she's making a big impact already—and we couldn't be happier to have her on the team.
