All of this 👏
🚩 RED FLAGS IN CLEANING CLIENTS 🚩
Not every client is the right client and after years of cleaning, you start noticing the warning signs pretty quickly. 😅
Here are a few that make me cautious:
🚩 “It’s really not that bad.”
Sometimes this means… it is, in fact, that bad. 😂 Be upfront about the condition of your home so your cleaner can accurately estimate the time and price.
🚩 Expecting a deep clean at maintenance clean pricing.
Baseboards, blinds, walls, inside appliances, heavy buildup, etc. take TIME.
🚩 “My last cleaner only took an hour.”
Faster doesn’t automatically mean better. Every cleaner has a different process and standard.
🚩 Adding tasks once the cleaner arrives but expecting the same price.
Extra work = extra time. Scope creep is real.
🚩 Constantly changing the schedule last minute.
For solo cleaners especially, one cancellation can completely change our workday and income.
🚩 Micromanaging every step.
It’s absolutely okay to communicate your expectations, but if you hired an experienced professional, give them room to do their job.
🚩 Expecting perfection in an unrealistic amount of time.
We can do amazing things, but we’re cleaners not actual fairies. 🧚♀️😂
🚩 Not respecting boundaries.
A cleaner’s time, policies, pricing, safety, and physical limits matter too.
🚩 Trying to negotiate the price AFTER the work is completed.
Pricing should be discussed beforehand. Please don’t wait until someone has worked for hours to suddenly decide their labor isn’t worth the agreed amount.
And one of the BIGGEST red flags?
🚩 Not valuing your cleaner as a person.
The best client/cleaner relationships are built on communication, honesty, mutual respect, and appreciation. ❤️
As a solo cleaner, I’ve learned that I don’t need every client. I want clients who value the work I do.
Cleaners what’s a client red flag you would add? 👇
