Can you use oven cleaner on a self-clean oven?

Short answer: No — it’s not recommended.

Self-clean ovens are designed to clean using high heat, not chemicals. Most oven cleaners are too strong and can damage the interior coating.

What about the glass?

Even on the glass, especially the inside, oven cleaner can be too harsh. It may cause streaks, discoloration, or damage to protective coatings.

What you should do instead:

* Use the self-clean cycle for heavy buildup
* For lighter cleaning, use:
* Warm water + dish soap
* Baking soda paste
* A non-abrasive cleaner

Important tips:

* Do not use oven cleaner inside a self-clean oven
* Avoid spraying the inner glass
* Do not clean heating elements
* Always let the oven cool before cleaning
* Check your manufacturer’s instructions

Pro tip:
