This sink came with a bit of a mystery.

There was a thick layer of dried-on residue sitting across the bottom. We're not exactly sure what it was, but it looked very much like the sort of thing you might get from a painter emptying a washout bucket down the sink.

Whatever it was, it wasn't coming off with a normal wipe.

A bit of oven cleaner, a Scrub Daddy and some elbow grease made surprisingly quick work of it, though.

• Dried-on residue removed
• Sink thoroughly cleaned
• Stainless steel brought back through
• Ready for the next stage of the project

We can't always tell you exactly what happened before we arrived — but we can usually tell you whether we're willing to have a crack at cleaning it.

As a general rule, give your fridge shelves a proper clean every few months, rather than waiting until they look dirty. Of course, if something spills or leaves a sticky mess, clean it up as soon as possible!
A few things to remember:
• Remove food and use a fridge-safe cleaning method recommended by the manufacturer.
• Let glass shelves come closer to room temperature before washing, as sudden temperature changes can cause them to crack.
• Dry the shelves thoroughly before putting everything back.

A little maintenance now makes those bigger fridge cleans much easier later!

This oven was Extreme.

Not “needs a bit of a clean” extreme. We're talking an oven that was completely covered in baked-on grease and grime. The glass was so dirty you couldn't see through it, the racks were black and even the rack supports had lost their stainless-steel finish.

This one took me the entire day.

We soaked everything we could, gave the products time to work, then worked through all the areas that needed some extra attention.

The racks and their supports went from black and grimy back to shiny stainless steel, and the glass came up crystal clear.

• Extreme grease and grime buildup tackled
• Oven glass brought back to crystal clear
• Racks restored to their stainless-steel finish
• Rack supports thoroughly cleaned
• Oven cleaned from top to bottom

There was a little existing damage underneath the racks that obviously wasn't going anywhere, but everything we could safely clean was cleaned.

And yes... we put the racks back in backwards.

In our defence, it did give you a great view of how clean the back of them were.

This is what we mean by an Extreme clean. It's not just a dirtier version of a standard clean; it's a completely different level of time and effort.

It's best to know where your mains are before an issue arises, that way; when there is an issue like a leaky sink or a burst pipe, you can shut them off before it makes the rest of the house mouldy as well!

This one was a big job.

Our client hadn't been able to get down the hallway to let her dog outside for around 7 years. Over that time, urine, faeces, dirt and general buildup had taken a serious toll on the floor.

By the time we arrived, the mess and loose pieces of inlay were literally around our ankles.

This wasn't a quick mop and vacuum.

We cleared the mess, cleaned the flooring as thoroughly as we could and tidied up the loose debris and clutter that had built up over the years.

The result isn't a brand-new floor and we wouldn't pretend it is. But it's clean, bright, usable and a massive improvement from where we started.

And the remaining exposed inlay is now neat rather than scattered across the hallway.

Most importantly, our client has a hallway she can actually use again.

No judgement. Just a job that needed doing.
