Hey folks!
It’s been brought to our attention that there seems to be a new scam is hitting local social media groups, in which someone claiming to have a car detailing business solicits for customers with a special promotion or claiming to be starting up a new business venture and reaching out to locals for support. By all means, everybody has to start some somewhere - just like us! And local networking is a great way to get yourself out there - however with so many scams around these days, it is important to be vigilant too.
A few things to look out for that might raise some red flags are:
🚩 Lack of including business name (Legitimate business owners WANT their business name out there, they want to be known)
🚩 And/or very generic business name (usually if questioned enough)
🚩 No business information, website, social media page, contact details
🚩 Suspicious personal social media account
🚩 May request a ‘complete refundable deposit’
🚩 Ask for information that can be used as identity theft (we get it - mobile businesses come to you - however make sure you do your research first before providing any additional details such as your number, address, bank digits or even details about the make and model of your car)
As always, people looking to employ a car detailing service should search for credibility with any business they're considering. This includes a website or social media page, testimonials, or firsthand experience from a trusted person.
Stay safe out there everybody! And you know you can trust in the professionals here at Shoreline for all your detailing needs.
