The Federal consultation on restricting SGARs has now closed. The evidence has been submitted. The regulator has concluded that restricting access is in the public interest. The decision now sits with the government.

SGARs do not stop with the rodents they are intended to kill. Poisoned rodents can survive for days after ingesting bait, becoming easy prey for owls, eagles and other native wildlife. The poison then moves through the food chain, causing internal bleeding, prolonged suffering and death.

That’s why we’re asking you to help by urging Assistant Minister Anthony Chisholm and Minister Julie Collins to:

🦉 Approve meaningful restrictions on SGAR rat poisons.

🦉 Prevent dangerous loopholes that would allow widespread continued use.

🦉 Establish a clear implementation timeline.

Federal restrictions are an important minimum step, but they will not remove SGARs from council-managed facilities or other public land. That is why we will continue working with communities and councils across Australia to secure local phase-outs as well.

Pinball L*z is hilarious. He arrived a few months ago and now has a small flock of four hens and they are his world. He valiantly tries to look after them with such honour and he doesn't realise that he is actually so hilarious doing it. Every morning I open their little house door and he rushes out before everyone to "attack" my foot (video in comments). He always seems so pleased with himself.
