It’s the perfect time to pull out your winter doona and give it a fresh, clean reset before the chill really sets in. Our Mega Washer can handle even a super king–sized doona with ease, and the Mega Dryer will have it warm, fluffy, and smelling amazing in no time. (*Always check the washing label).

A good wash also helps clear out any little crawlies that may have made your doona their secret summer hideaway ..... consider them evicted!

TIP: Add a few drops of lavender (or your favourite essential oil) to a clean cloth and pop it in the dryer for a beautifully scented finish.

We encourage customers who wash their bras at Wishy Washy, to please use a mesh laundry bag. This will not only extend the life of your bras from being twisted, stretched and hooks breaking, but also keeping the under wires intact, helping us all 🌸🌸

✨ **We Take Washing Seriously** ✨

Behind the scenes, our machines get more pampering than most houseplants! Regular surface cleaning each week and a deep clean every month, plus regular weekly maintenance to keep everything running beautifully. It’s all part of making sure your clothes get the fresh, clean wash they deserve.

If you ever visit other laundromats take a moment to peek inside the soap dispensers and machine seals. A little detergent residue is normal… but mould, mystery gunk, and “archaeological layers” of old product definitely aren’t. Same goes for the drums and doors. Stainless steel may be a diva to keep streak‑free, but it should never be hiding hair clips, screws, tile spacers, or last week’s snack wrappers.

We’re committed to keeping our space clean, safe, and pleasant and if you ever spot a spill or something that needs urgent attention, we’d love to know.

Here’s to happy washing and machines that sparkle as much as your freshly cleaned clothes ✨🧺

We kindly ask our customers to please be mindful of the amount of detergent used when washing, particularly liquid and laundry beads.

This video is an example of what we've seen twice now, over the past week. This is after a wash, with no clothes in the machine. Unless the soap suds are flushed, it's a continual cycle of the next customer adding more soap with potential for flooding suds in Wishy Washy. **Such heavy suds during a wash will leave your clothes stickier and heavier.

We encourage you to read the signage provided. Use the amount of detergent you would normally use at home and as per our signage. Our machines do not require additional detergent, as they provide a very efficient wash.

☔When the Weather Decides to “Help” With Your Washing ....

Sometimes the sky decides to join in on laundry day, uninvited and over‑enthusiastic. One minute your clothes are basking in the sunshine, the next they’re starring in their own soggy drama. And because the weather has a sense of humour, this is what usually follows…

- They take *way* longer to dry, turning a quick chore into an all‑day saga
- Rain can leave clothes smelling “damp” instead of fresh if the sun doesn’t come back out
- Pollen, dust, or outdoor particles can cling to the fabric
- Dark or heavy items can develop that stubborn musty smell if they stay wet too long
- If the rain is dirty (hello, Brisbane summer storms), you might end up with splash marks or streaks
- And of course… you have to rewash the whole lot, which is the real heartbreak

🌀 Why Do Your Sheets Turn Into a Big Tangled Ball in the Dryer?

If you’ve ever pulled your sheets out of the dryer only to find a giant knotted ball… you’re not alone! Here’s why it happens & how to stop it 👇

Why it happens
• Sheets are large & lightweight, naturally twisting & wrapping around themselves
• The tumbling motion creates a “pillowcase effect”, trapping smaller items inside
• When they bundle up, some parts dry while other parts stay damp

How to reduce or stop sheet tangling
• Pop only 1 sheet set at a time in the dryer
• Add 2–3 smaller/heavier items like towels to help separate and weigh things down
• Open the door/Pause the cycle halfway → shake sheets out → restart (this seriously helps!)
• Avoid overloading - more space = better tumble
• Dryer balls can also help keep sheets moving; they’re designed for dryers & last a long time
✨ Result: Faster drying. Less tangling. Softer, fresher sheets.

Can I use tennis balls? How & Why:
• they bounce around and separate the sheets
• they reduce tangling and help air flow
• they can slightly speed up drying
BUT:
• they’re loud in the dryer
• older/cheap tennis balls may shed rubber or fuzz
• not ideal for delicate fabrics
Better option:
Wool or dryer balls are designed for dryers, but tennis balls are a handy quick fix 😊
