Underground Service Solutions is a business specialising in the detection and locating of Underground Utilities via electro-magnetic and “Non Destructive” Vacuum Excavation. Based centrally in the Macedon Ranges, we are happy to service all of Victoria. With 10 years’ experience in the civil construction industry, and with all necessary licences, accreditations and Insurances, our clients can rest

assured to receive a professional and safe service. With a close alliance with 1100 Dial Before You Dig and a strong emphasis on safety and work ethics you can rest assured you will be in good hands. Equipped with Radiodetections’ latest Electromagnetic Locators, the RD8000. This offers consistent and accurate detection of ferrous materials, and any assets which emit a signal, up to considerable depths. We are happy to adopt a range of different reporting methods to suit individual clients. With our Hydro-Vacuum Truck we are able to safely excavate material around buried assets without risk of costly damage or injury, which has made “Vacuum Excavation” the preferred method of excavating for many Asset owners and Contractors. The Vacuum unit has a 5.8m3 spoil capacity which increases the time spend digging and reduces the downtime associated with unloading which is often the downfall with smaller units. The unit also carries 1200L of fresh water for the high pressure water lance used for loosening up the material to be excavated. Potholing for services, trenching, site cleanup, posthole digging, pit and pipe cleaning, conduit roping and much more. Something a little different here! Not just boring conduits and Water Mains!
A clients Eco Pond had been inundated with silt due to runoff from the storms last year.
40,000 Litres later, an almost as good as new water feature.
Needless to say he was very pleased with the results!

Storm water problems?

Trees are fantastic things, without them we wouldn’t be here!!

But be mindful of where you plant them, they can get big!!

This can be the result if your not careful, note the Water and Gas mains Assets intertwined within the root ball of this 20year old Eucalyptus.
Would have been an event if it had fallen over or even worse, been mechanically doug out.

Weather you use USS or another Accredited Asset Locator. This is one of the reasons we all harp on about “proving” our location paint marks.

To give an accurate location we rely heavily on the asset we are locating being installed correctly. Especially gas and water assets.

We use the small Copper or Stainless wire installed with these assets to locate the pipes as it is installed there just for that purpose. (You can’t find plastic without it).

You can see in the first photo that the wire is over 300mm away from the property connection.

The second photo shows we were pin point on with our location, but the trace wire wasn’t on the pipe where it was meant to be.

Remember!
If you have to dig close to an existing service, PROVE IT!!
